Background / History
Ye Jingyu was one of the Ye Family’s Jing-generation cultivators and Ye Jingcheng’s fourth brother. Early in the story, he was already a more advanced Qi Refinement cultivator and shared cultivation and beast-taming knowledge with Jingcheng. He also encouraged Jingcheng to cultivate diligently, raise his spirit beasts well, and develop alchemy alongside cultivation 2 6 11.
As the Ye Family expanded into the Azure Cloud Sea Region, Ye Jingyu became the publicly acknowledged leader of the Purplewood Sect. In that capacity, he negotiated with Mystic Sword Pavilion for a custom third-rank spirit sword, offering one-third of the Jade Chu Sect’s territory in exchange 447 467.
During the beast tide at Hidden Azure Island, he commanded Purplewood Sect cultivators in the defense of a fourth-rank formation. When the situation became untenable, he escaped aboard a spirit vessel after the formation and spirit vein were detonated, denying the pursuing beasts and enemies an easy victory 656 657.
Afterward, Ye Jingyu increasingly took on responsibilities normally associated with family leadership. He agreed to serve as acting clan head while Ye Jingyun entered seclusion, later impersonated Ye Jingcheng at major public ceremonies, and managed sensitive political matters for the family 758 771 786.
Appearance
Ye Jingyu is described as refined and handsome when he reveals his face beneath a Spirit-Isolating Robe. He frequently conceals or alters his appearance for negotiations, infiltration, and public impersonations 467 771 1643.
- Usually appears in a Spirit-Isolating Robe during covert dealings 467 755.
- Can assume Ye Jingcheng’s appearance with an exceptionally convincing imitation of his aura 771 1643.
- Has also appeared in clean white Daoist robes with a plump, jade-like face after emerging from seclusion 958.
Personality
Ye Jingyu is restrained, cautious, and difficult to read. Even when Yu Junyuan implied knowledge of his hidden identity and cultivation, Ye Jingyu kept his expression controlled and revealed nothing unnecessary 755.
He is highly pragmatic in protecting the Ye Family. He is willing to maintain false identities, spread misinformation, silence threats, and prepare evacuation plans when the family’s survival is at stake 771 1191 1725 1739.
Despite this ruthlessness, Ye Jingyu is deeply attached to his family. Before a dangerous campaign, he asked Ye Jingcheng to care for the mortal descendants of his brother Ye Hao if he did not return 641. He also shows paternal concern for his daughter Ye Qingyun’s future cultivation 1771.

Spirit Beasts
Ye Jingyu maintains several spirit beasts and understands their tactical value.

- Second flood dragon — another peak third-rank companion; Ye Jingyu expected both dragons could advance to the fourth rank before his own breakthrough 958.
- Heavenly Dream Illusion Butterfly — contracted after finding it within Three-Eyed Divine Lord’s grotto-heaven; its Heavenly General inheritance was the greater prize 1742.

- Ye Hao — blood brother who lacked a spiritual root. Ye Jingyu remains concerned for Ye Hao’s mortal descendants, particularly Ye Fu’s family 641.
