"Uh, I guess that did happen, Commander Skywarp. It looks like we've crossed the line already!"
After hearing Starscream's reminder, a Transformer who took the form of an armed helicopter stepped forward timidly to make his report. The kid's position was Observer, mainly responsible for defining the boundaries of each war zone. After all, the Decepticons had clearly divided factions as well, and Skywarp had indeed crossed the boundary now.
If it had been some other Decepticon leader, there might still have been room to negotiate, since they were all fighting together right now. But the person in charge of this area was Great Dinosaur Saurus. If you dared to provoke him, you might be torn apart the next day until only two broken landing gears remained.
Moreover, Great Dinosaur Saurus had never acknowledged Starscream as the Decepticons' top air commander. If Skywarp was truly caught by him, the consequences were easy to imagine.
"You little bastard, why didn't you say so earlier? Retreat! All of you, retreat! Didn't you hear what Brother Starscream said?!"
On the surface, Skywarp appeared quite obedient, but in Starscream's database, this kid's record was filled with misdeeds! Once he put on an act and fooled Starscream into leaving, he would definitely press on alone and continue hunting down the Autobots' Ark.
The real Great Dinosaur Saurus had already returned to his base to replenish his energy, while the group of freakish Transformers under his command had vanished somewhere as well. If Skywarp really found Optimus Prime and the others, a fierce battle would be unavoidable.
Although Starscream believed Optimus Prime could definitely defeat Skywarp, the Autobots only had one Ark left. If anything happened to it, Starscream's system mission would most likely fail, and the Autobots would lose their final spark and become true drifters of the universe.
No, he had to warn Optimus Prime quickly. Better yet, he needed to block Skywarp at the door.
But how should he do that?
As Starscream continuously used his central processor to rapidly formulate a plan to intercept Skywarp, he suddenly remembered that he seemed to have received some kind of reward from the Ever-Changing Steel System earlier.
Right! Since Great Dinosaur Saurus wasn't around anyway, couldn't he just transform into that guy's appearance? And ever since receiving that system reward, Starscream had never tried using the Impersonator Skill. Wasn't this the perfect chance to test it?
"Great System, I'd like to use the Impersonator Skill. Do I need to make any preparations?"
After making up his mind, Starscream landed on the uninhabited far side of an asteroid and activated the Ever-Changing Steel System.
"Ding. The Ever-Changing Steel System has confirmed receipt of the command. The Impersonator Skill may be used once every 12 hours, and each use may not exceed 25 minutes. As the skill levels up, its various functions will improve accordingly. What appearance does the host wish to assume?"
Fine, it seemed that the Impersonator Skill was not a permanent transformation. Still, at Starscream's current speed, 25 minutes was more than enough to scan this entire territory belonging to Great Dinosaur Saurus.
"I request to take on Great Dinosaur Saurus's appearance. I have his visual data in my database. Make it as similar as possible, because the people we encounter next may very well be experts!"
"Understood, host. Visual data has been read. Beginning appearance impersonation!"
"Bzzzt, bzzzt, bzzzt!"
This was Starscream's first impersonation transformation. His original robot form was that of a typical fighter-jet Transformer, with the aircraft's tail fins visible over his shoulders and the cockpit positioned on his chest.
But Great Dinosaur Saurus had a completely different appearance. He was apparently a dinosaur-type Transformer, so the system had to reconstruct and disguise Starscream's entire body. His jet-like head became the outline of a beast's head, while the geometric contours that originally belonged to the aircraft became an uneven, savage beastly body. Even Starscream's favorite red stripes turned into a chaotic assortment of patterns. Supposedly, these were colors Great Dinosaur Saurus had carefully blended to better emphasize his wildness!
Fine! Though he felt uncomfortable all over, Starscream's jet engines remained fully functional. And under the Ever-Changing Steel System's disguise, he looked exactly like Great Dinosaur Saurus. Unless Mr. Starscream was terribly unlucky and ran into the real one returning, even Saurus's mother would not be able to tell the difference...
"Fine! Great System, your disguise technique is truly incredible. It would be even better if you could help me find that kid called Skywarp! Of course, I'm only saying that. I can locate that brat myself with a little effort!"
Starscream was simply being lazy! But just as he was about to rely on himself, the Ever-Changing Steel System suddenly responded.
"Honored host, the function for tracking designated targets has already been unlocked. We will now begin searching for the target Transformer."
Fine! He had only mentioned it casually, yet the system actually took him seriously. Still, the Ever-Changing Steel System seemed to have quite a lot of functions. Only 20% had been unlocked so far. Who knew what surprises awaited Mr. Starscream once every function was unlocked?
In less than three seconds, the familiar mechanical prompt sounded again.
"Honored host, we have successfully located the target Transformer known as Skywarp and locked onto his position. However, Skywarp appears to be tracking our mission target, the Autobots. If he is not stopped immediately, your previous main mission will likely fail, and this system will automatically shut down!"
Fine! That was good news—and bad news.
But Skywarp truly was as expected. It seemed unrealistic not to teach him a lesson.
"Alright, System Boss, I know what I need to do next! Give me Skywarp's current coordinates. I'm going to use Great Dinosaur Saurus's savage jaws to bite off that kid's wings and tail fins, then throw him into a trash bin at the Decepticon scrapyard!"
Although Skywarp had gotten a head start, Starscream was still very confident in his speed. Catching up to that guy would only take a few minutes. He just hoped the Autobots' Ark could hold out until then!
