KSI was an obscure and mysterious American company.
President Joshua arrived at one of the company's laboratories early that morning!
He had been invited to attend one of the company's experiments today—more precisely, an experiment that would usher in a new era.
"Mr. President, everything is ready!"
Joshua had barely arrived at the laboratory in a custom armored Cadillac before several researchers waiting in the lobby at the main entrance led him inside.
"Mm."
Joshua nodded with a smile. "I heard you've finally made some progress. I'm here on behalf of the board to take a look."
The white-bearded researcher wore a proud expression, completely lacking the embarrassment he had shown during Joshua's previous inspections of the laboratory.
His name was Steven Foch, the chief consultant of this KSI laboratory.
"Sir," he replied with a smile, "scientific research is like this. Most of the time, it requires massive investment and long-term persistence before it yields returns. No one can defy that process, especially now, when technology is advancing so rapidly. As foundational research is gradually completed, making further progress atop the castles built by our predecessors only becomes harder than it was for them!"
Joshua nodded but said nothing.
Everyone understood the principle, but capitalists did not care about the equation of research equals investment plus time plus persistence. What they cared about was results, and only results.
Although KSI was a private company, its board composition was extremely complex. It included both Wall Street investment tycoons and investment institutions under several domestic arms manufacturers.
KSI had even received a portion of its military funding from the Ministry of Defense. In a sense, while it was not a state-owned enterprise, it was deeply tied to the national interests of the United States.
Therefore, if KSI wanted to secure more funding
