A flicker of joy passed through Hong Mo's heart. This feeling was all too familiar. Back when he had first awakened his superpower field, it had felt exactly like this—vague and indistinct. Could it be that his ability had recovered?

When serum from different superpower types is fused, there is an obvious genetic conflict, and the target has an extremely high chance of death. Furthermore, during genetic collapse, the original superpower may weaken or even disappear.

After ordinary people received this Evolution Serum, more than 90% would die. But those who survived would be infected by the serum over the following one to two years, their genes gradually changing until they became new superpower users. These were the "second generation."

The previous cell-transplant experiment had already proven that Hong Mo's cells possessed extremely strong invasiveness. So far, no one had been able to withstand them. Since there was no more serum available, research in that area came to a halt. The researchers instead shifted their focus to something they had not valued before.

Hong Mo's regenerative ability.

In their experimental data, Hong Mo's regenerative ability had performed extremely poorly. But perhaps it could be stimulated in the same way?

2021.02.13: Hong Mo was injected for the first time with serum from a creature possessing powerful regenerative ability. Unlike electromagnetic-type superpower serum, creatures with regenerative ability were mostly nonhuman. Even other physical-type superpower users only displayed rapid healing, not regeneration.

The first dose had very little effect, so a second was injected immediately afterward.

Over the course of a month, thirteen types of serum from regenerative creatures were injected in succession. Hong Mo's regenerative ability showed no obvious changes. The researchers believed this was because Hong Mo's regenerative ability was simply too weak to be enhanced through stimulation like his electromagnetic ability. If nothing unexpected happened, this experiment would also come to a standstill.

If nothing unexpected happened!

Obviously, something unexpected did happen. On 2021.05.16, an earthquake suddenly occurred in the city center of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, causing a building to collapse. The National Superpower Special Security Department discovered a strange creature underground. It was a gigantic Fleshball roughly ten meters in diameter. It displayed no offensive ability, but the mucus on its surface could corrode and absorb most objects. Its other demonstrated ability was powerful regeneration.

After a probing attack, a superpower user cut off a palm-sized piece of flesh. At the time, the group did not pay it much attention. After discovering that the target had no offensive capabilities, they transported the creature back to base.

2021.05.20: Following reports from the public, another identical creature was discovered at the original location. After capturing it and conducting a series of experiments, they discovered that this identical creature had regenerated from the palm-sized piece of flesh that had fallen to the ground. Through this long chain of experiments, China successively produced more than ten Fleshballs. Fortunately, these Fleshballs stopped growing once they reached a diameter of around ten meters. Otherwise, they would truly have been a huge problem.

This was currently the creature with the strongest regenerative ability ever discovered. Fortunately, no abilities other than regeneration had yet been found in it, and it seemed to possess no intelligence.

2021.06.08: Through its connections, the institute where Hong Mo was held also obtained one such creature.

2021.06.13: The institute used this creature's bodily fluids to produce a special serum. That same day, they tested the serum on ordinary humans and other superpower users. 2021.10.11: Hong Mo's arms and legs began to regenerate. Within a single day, they grew ten centimeters, then stopped. The researchers discovered that the lack of material had caused the regenerative ability to stop automatically.

After discovering this, Hong Mo finally ate food for the first time in three years. During the previous three years, all his bodily needs had been met through direct nutrient infusions.

2021.10.12: After eating, Hong Mo's body completed its regeneration within two hours, regrowing his hands and feet. However, the growth did not stop. Instead, it began expanding sideways. After noticing this, Hong Mo refused to eat, only to have a feeding tube installed, with liquid food pumped directly into his stomach.

2021.10.15: The growth stopped. Hong Mo had now become a Fleshball roughly three meters in diameter. No matter how one looked at him, no one would consider Hong Mo human anymore. Even his face had been enveloped within the Fleshball. Fortunately, the feeding tube and breathing system had already been installed.

The researchers were somewhat disappointed by Hong Mo's transformation and reported the experimental results. Research into the new creature, "Fleshball," also gradually ceased.

After becoming a Fleshball, no one cared much about Hong Mo anymore. After all, the experiments involving him had already nearly come to a halt. Aside from the system's preset daily replenishment of nutrient solution, the room imprisoning Hong Mo became deserted.
