Sword Immortal?

Although the name "vampire" frightened quite a few people, more and more people still gathered around the scene of the accident. Sirens rang out as police cars and ambulances headed this way.

Inside the cab, the trapped driver was also growing frightened. He stared suspiciously at the two suspects in the back. What was that guy trying to do? A coin?

Hong Mo pinched the coin between his thumb and index finger, then aimed it at the car door. With a hum, a streak of white light shot out, violently striking the reinforced door and sending it flying away.

Boom!

The massive muffled blast made the surrounding bystanders feel as though their hearts had skipped a beat. Then they saw the door detach from the car in a streak of white light, flying far into the distance before landing somewhere away from them, followed by several screams.

A few unlucky bastards, everyone silently lamented.

The streak of white light unleashed by Hong Mo's electromagnetic cannon shot diagonally upward, slamming into the edge of a building by the roadside. After the violent impact, the building looked as though something had taken a bite out of it, leaving behind a huge gap.

Holy shit...! Every onlooker involuntarily swallowed. Luckily, the electromagnetic cannon had fired upward at an angle. If it had fired straight ahead, probably no one along its path would have survived.

The taxi's rear door was gone. Hong Mo led Ling Yin as they climbed out from inside. After getting out, Hong Mo set Ling Yin down and helped straighten her clothes. Mm, aside from her somewhat disheveled hair, even her hairclip was still in place.

"Phyllis? Belle?" A cry came from within the crowd when Ling Yin appeared.

Ling Yin glanced in that direction. There was not the slightest trace of emotion in her icy eyes. Only when she turned to look at her father did a hint of tenderness appear in them.

Hong Mo walked over to the driver and looked down at him coldly. "Perhaps you should tell me who you are, and how you found out I was a 'vampire'?" Hong Mo asked.

"Do you think I'd tell you?" The driver gave a miserable smile. Trapped as he was, he had no ability to resist at all.

"If you won't talk, forget it." Hong Mo had no intention of forcing a confession. If he did not want to talk, then he would not talk. The only person who had seen Hong Mo's face and knew what he looked like was that policewoman. A lesson learned the hard way—he would never be so softhearted again. Hong Mo lightly pressed the index finger of his left hand against the man's forehead.

A flash of electricity passed through him—electromagnetic shock!

Then the back of the man's head seemed to explode, blasting open a huge hole as brains and blood sprayed everywhere.

"Ahhh!!!" Countless screams erupted from the crowd. The ordinary people who saw the scene scattered in blind panic, terrified that Hong Mo, this demon, might turn his attention on them.

The woman in red had been frightened senseless. She collapsed onto the ground, staring blankly at Hong Mo.

Hong Mo walked over. Using both hands and feet, the woman trembled as she scrambled backward. Hong Mo suddenly lifted her chin in a mischievous gesture. Not bad—she was quite pretty, and compared to many people, she possessed genuine kindness.

Hong Mo did not tease the woman any further. He stood up and looked into the distance.

"Why did you kill him?" Since Hong Mo had not harmed her, the woman could not help asking, her tone somewhat aggressive.

Hong Mo turned back and gave the woman another puzzled look. "I've never actively wanted to kill anyone." Hong Mo said something inexplicable to her, then shifted his gaze back into the distance. Yet what he had said was the truth. He had indeed never actively wanted to kill anyone. Almost every time, he had merely been forced to resist.

Who knew why he had ended up this way?

Strange, why was I explaining this to her? Hong Mo shook his head.

They were here. Hong Mo looked into the distance. The distinctive energy fluctuations of superpowered individuals were already approaching from ahead. The driver had kept refusing to stop, intending to take him somewhere. It could only have been a trap, an encirclement. Quite some time had passed since Hong Mo destroyed the taxi. They should have arrived by now.

Ten years of inhuman life had not made Hong Mo act unusually toward ordinary people. But who knew how much resentment had accumulated in his heart? Don't push me, bastards, or I'll show you what madness is.

The nearby crowd had already been fleeing, and with the police dispersing them as well, the flow of people vanished very quickly. Before long, only a few people remained in front of Hong Mo. Among the police opposite him, Hong Mo saw a group carrying weapons resembling rocket launchers, aiming them in this direction.

Tch! Hong Mo cursed under his breath.

He had to get away from here. He could not let the police surround him, or once they had no more reservations and unleashed all kinds of high-tech weapons, Hong Mo would not be able to withstand them. He did not want a repeat of what had happened six years ago.

"Ling Yin, get on my back." Hong Mo crouched down.

"Mm." Ling Yin obediently climbed onto Hong Mo's back.

"Hold on tight!" After giving the warning, the electric current inside Hong Mo's body became violent.

Instant Activation!

Electricity surged from Hong Mo's body, blazing ions spraying from all over his back. Ling Yin let out a faint muffled groan from behind him. Hong Mo frowned. Although Ling Yin also possessed electromagnetic powers, she was still comparatively weak beside Hong Mo. Though he had deliberately avoided his back, she had still been affected.

Hong Mo pushed off with his feet. Accelerated by the electric current, his body shot into the crowd at a speed too fast for ordinary eyes to follow, racing toward the nearby city center.

Not long after Hong Mo left, three people rushed in from outside. Two men and one woman. One of the men wore a long robe, looking much like a sword immortal from an online game. The other dressed more ordinarily, in a pair of jeans with his upper body bare, a blood-red dragon-shaped tattoo winding across his body.

The last was a woman in a traditional cheongsam, its slit running all the way to the root of her thigh. Her snow-white legs were revealed as she walked, utterly alluring.

"Zhao Qiong!" The man dressed like a sword immortal, who had arrived first, crouched down and stared in shock at the driver's corpse trapped inside the taxi.

"He's dead. The target has already escaped." The woman in the cheongsam frowned and spoke coolly.

The sword-immortal man clenched his fists. "I'm the fastest. I'll go stop him first. Follow behind." As soon as he finished speaking, an exquisite ancient sword truly appeared beneath his feet. Like a real sword immortal, he rode the flying sword into the sky.

"Idiot. Didn't he notice the other side fled straight toward the city center? Does he intend to fight in the city center?" The woman in the cheongsam remarked flatly.

The man with the dragon tattoo said nothing. He broke into a run and chased after them.

"Hmph!"

The woman in the cheongsam gave a coquettish snort. Her body rose into the air as well and flew forward, though she was not as fast as the sword-immortal man.

Hong Mo's rapidly advancing body came to a stop amid the crowd. The people nearby all looked at him curiously. Superpowers had existed for more than ten years now, so the passersby did not find it particularly strange. Still, superpowers were abilities possessed by only a small number of people, so they could not help being curious.

Hong Mo set Ling Yin down, only to discover that her body was still trembling slightly.

"Dad, I'm fine." Ling Yin raised her head, a smile appearing on her pale little face.

"You don't have to force yourself." Hong Mo brushed back the hair on Ling Yin's forehead, revealing her smooth brow.

"Phyllis, are you Phyllis?" A boy carrying a backpack rushed over, continuously taking pictures of Ling Yin with his phone.

"Get lost!" Hong Mo raised his left hand, firing a bolt of electricity that smashed the boy's phone to pieces.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" The boy, who looked like nothing more than a high school student, swayed and blocked Hong Mo's path. "Pay for my phone, pay for my phone! Or you can let me take a photo with her instead."

So that was your real goal, wasn't it, boy?

Hong Mo had also been a huge anime fan long ago, so he did not dislike the boy. But now was not the right time. By then, the impulsive boy had also realized that his opponent did not seem to be an ordinary person.

"Move aside. Don't make me kill you." Hong Mo gently pushed the boy away with one hand, then took Ling Yin's hand and ran toward the subway. The boy did not resist, simply standing there in a daze as Hong Mo moved him aside.

Just as Hong Mo was about to reach the entrance to the underground passage, nine exquisite ancient swords descended from the sky in a blaze of dazzling light. If Hong Mo had not stopped in time, he would have been skewered straight through by them. Even so, the nine ancient swords surrounded him.

The nearby pedestrians were startled as well. Once they came to their senses, they hurried away, then watched the spectacle from a distance.

Hong Mo turned around and saw a graceful figure riding an ancient sword toward him at high speed from the direction he had come. After arriving before Hong Mo, the man stopped, his flying sword hovering about five meters above the ground and emitting a faint glow. With a curl of the man's fingers, the nine exquisite ancient swords rose from the ground and slowly revolved around him.

Elegant as jade, ethereal as an immortal!

A sword immortal?

Whether from his attire or his abilities, the first impression he gave was that of a sword immortal. If not for the still-crowded flow of people around them, Hong Mo would have truly thought that he had somehow traveled into a world of cultivation.

"A vampire?" the sword immortal asked.

"A sword immortal?" Hong Mo asked in return. The two stared at each other, then suddenly burst into laughter.

"You probably aren't a vampire either. But superpowers these days really are getting stranger and stranger—there are even blood-sucking freaks like you. Forget it, I don't care what you are. You dared to kill my teammate, so I can't let you go." As he spoke, the man formed a sword gesture. One flying sword vanished with a whoosh, instantly appearing before Hong Mo.
