A close look allowed Vaughn to barely make out the details inside those jars. Just like before, they contained combinations of human bodies and partial magical creature organs.
Venomous horns, venom sacs.
Fairy wings, Occamy feathers.
Of course, those were the "better-looking" specimens, at least ones whose organs Vaughn could still identify. The rest... were simply indescribable!
Twisted. Grotesque.

Some resembled wildly proliferating, tangled blood vessels.
Others could not even be roughly identified by their components, resembling pools of writhing, paint-like fluid...
But in truth, every one of them had a name.
"Ha, Lawrence, I remember this one most clearly. A pitiful vagrant—I personally sent him here. I remember... they implanted Puffskein genes into him? Pathetic thing. He turned entirely into a ball of yarn and didn't even have a head left."
"And this one, the strangest product. They implanted Ball-Escaping Bird genes... this experiment succeeded. He opened his eyes like a human, and 0.1 seconds later, it collapsed, because every muscle fiber and every cell in its body was Apparating without pause."
"And this one..."
Watching Jack Graves introduce the jars one by one as though reciting his most treasured possessions, Vaughn did not know what expression to make for a moment.
He had never considered himself a kind person.
At times, he could even be rather cruel.
But even someone like him found the jars flashing past before his eyes so perverse that they made him physically sick!
So, when Jack Graves summoned the fifty-seventh jar, Vaughn stopped him.
"You should wait. There are still many failed specimens you haven't shown me."
The tour of the failed experimental subjects came to an end.
The two returned to the elevator, and Jack still seemed reluctant to stop. "Those insane No-Majs opened
