Although a few scattered figures had already gathered on the Bone Land, none were Coffin Ascenders familiar to Green. They were evidently merely challengers who had arrived early to wait for the challenge gathering to begin. There were seven of them in total—not many. It seemed there was still time.
Green's arrival drew their attention. The fluctuations of power he made no effort to conceal were simply too vast and majestic.
"Mm... then I'll wait a while longer."
Muttering to himself, Green sat down right where he was and slipped into sleep in a state close to meditation.
Over the long passage of time, Green had conducted every experiment his reserves of knowledge allowed. Other than unlocking the seventh layer of the Key of Life, Wild Instinct Ancestor of Humanity Transformation, and certain experiments for which the Dimensional Esophagus could not provide the necessary resources, he had reached the limits of his own ability in everything else.
As for his research into the Key of Life, Green's progress required time to select and cultivate specimens. It was likewise not something that could be accomplished in a short time through diligence alone.
This idle, slumbering state of his, like some passively evolving creature, was once unimaginable to Green.
Reality had proven that this was the process of being digested by the Endless World—irreversible and inescapable. No matter how much one obtained, if one could not leave this place, it would ultimately become nothing more than an ancient treasure in the eyes of later generations, meaningless.
