With a creak, the wooden door shut on its own.

Green felt a sudden chill down his back. He whipped around, but saw no one. The wooden door remained as rotten and dilapidated as ever, as though one more push would reduce it to ruins.

Green looked somewhat tense, but he kept warning himself, None of this is real. None of this is real...

After a moment, Green's breathing finally steadied considerably.

"Hmm? I can't use sorcery?"

Green discovered in surprise that when he tried to use fire elements for illumination, he could not trigger them no matter what he did.

Preventing a wizard apprentice from casting sorcery required absolute control over natural energy. Green was certain that even a level-three Grand Wizard, though capable of suppressing the leverage of his own magic array to its limit, could never stop him from casting sorcery altogether.

"Since I can't cast sorcery, then I simply won't use it. This Ruined Water Tower may be famous, but I've never heard of it claiming anyone's life."

With that thought, Green raised his head in the darkness and examined the interior of the water tower.

The ground was littered with dry blades of grass, and numerous footprints could vaguely be seen, as though people frequently came here. A wooden staircase spiraled upward around the inside of the cylindrical tower. The water tower was a little over fifty meters tall, yet he could only see the first twenty-odd meters of stairs. Above that, everything was dark and blurred beyond recognition.

Should he climb to the top of the tower?
