Background / History

Early life

Qian Ren Shuang was born to Bibi Dong and Qian Xunji and has an older sister, Qian Renxue. He resembles Bibi Dong more strongly than Qian Xunji, inheriting aspects of both parents' physique and mannerisms. Bibi Dong raised him from ages six to nine and personally gave him her meditation method, the Twin Martial Soul Cultivation Method, and a method for resolving the mutual rejection of twin martial souls. Their relationship nevertheless remains distant and strained. 21 22 41

He lived in luxury at Spirit Hall until age nine and a half, after which he spent twelve years at the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect as a hostage supporting cooperation between the sect and Spirit Hall. Ning Fengzhi also provided him one million gold soul coins for his journey to Shrek Academy. 1

Although he later claims to be a discarded collateral descendant of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, this identity is a fabrication used to conceal his actual background. He repeats the story to Tang Hao, presenting his external martial soul as the supposed reason for his expulsion. 8 24

Shrek Academy

Qian Ren Shuang arrives at Shrek Academy to honor his commitment as Ning Rongrong's guard and mentor. He immediately dislikes the academy's dilapidated appearance and privately considers it a “bandit training school.” 1

During registration, Li Yusong attacks him with lethal intent after sensing Guilmon's evil attribute. Qian Ren Shuang activates Soul Skill Switch: Enhancement Core, allowing Guilmon to counterattack with Guilmon Cannon; Li Yusong is killed. Zhao Wuji subsequently deals with the incident pragmatically rather than pursuing vengeance. 2 3

He establishes a major power gap over the Shrek students, breaking Tang San's Blue Silver Grass bindings, overpowering Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing in close combat, and resisting Xiao Wu's Charm through superior spiritual power. Guilmon then repels Dai Mubai with Guilmon Cannon. 10

During the Star Dou Forest expedition, Qian Ren Shuang evolves Guilmon into Growlmon for transport, allowing the group to arrive a day and a half early. The evolution and subsequent battles strain Guilmon's body, leaving both partner and martial soul with bone fractures. 11 20

Treatment and Xiang Ya

To conceal his second martial soul, Qian Ren Shuang claims that he is leaving Shrek to seek treatment from the healer Ye Renxin. In reality, he uses Food Is Heaven and his own “medicine and food share the same source” technique to heal himself and Guilmon. 23 26

While in Soto City, he meets Xiang Ya at a gambling house. Guilmon defeats the abusive boss threatening her, and Qian Ren Shuang later chooses not to kill the gambling den's puppet boss because doing so could attract Spirit Hall's attention. Xiang Ya ultimately persuades him to take her along, becoming his household helper. 26 28

After returning to Shrek, he brutally forces Yu Xiaogang to apologize to Ning Rongrong for reducing her to tears. Although his anger toward Yu Xiaogang is partly tied to Bibi Dong, he accepts Tang Hao's request not to kill him. 29 30

Blue Tyrant Academy

Qian Ren Shuang travels with the Shrek group to Heaven Dou City aboard Growlmon and joins the Shrek Seven Monsters with little personal enthusiasm. His primary concern in the city is finding a way to contact Qian Renxue, who is operating undercover in the Heaven Dou Empire. 35 37

At Blue Tyrant Academy, Liu Erlong requires him to pass a practical assessment before he can teach. Qian Ren Shuang ambushes and injures her with High-Speed Component B, then evolves Guilmon through Growlmon into WarGrowlmon when she uses her Red Dragon Avatar. Their fight ends in a draw after Qian Ren Shuang decides that killing her would create unacceptable consequences. 39 41

Following the academy merger, he becomes the advanced class's homeroom teacher while the Shrek group enters the same class as students. 45 46

Appearance

Qian Ren Shuang is notably handsome and conspicuous among the Shrek group. His appearance is described as roughly seventy percent similar to Bibi Dong and thirty percent similar to Qian Xunji. 38

Qian Ren Shuang is generally calm, guarded, and calculating. He responds to threats without panic, assesses risks before acting, and uses deception when necessary to protect his identity or avoid unwanted attention. He lets the puppet gambling-house boss live specifically to prevent a public incident from drawing Spirit Hall scrutiny. 2 27

His restraint has clear limits. He does not seek indiscriminate killing, but he shows little mercy toward opponents who attempt to kill him or people who provoke his anger. His violence toward Li Yusong and Yu Xiaogang demonstrates both his ruthlessness and his explosive temper. 3 29 30

Despite his detached demeanor, he is protective of people he considers his responsibility. He remains with Ning Rongrong as her guard, pressures Yu Xiaogang into apologizing to her, and spends substantial effort treating Guilmon's injuries. 1 27 30

He is also practical about moral judgment. When Guilmon judges Tang Hao by the smell of blood, Qian Ren Shuang argues that good and evil are not absolute categories and should be treated as shades of gray. 25
