"Oh, come on! You're so long-winded! You sound just like my parents! You're the Ghost King! Aren't you supposed to be the domineering, aloof sort?" Tian Linger looked at the Ghost King with open curiosity, showing none of the fear or reverence one would expect upon meeting a Demon Sect big shot.
"Are you not afraid of me?" The Ghost King studied Tian Linger, who was about the same age as his daughter.
"Why should I be?" Tian Linger asked, puzzled. "Just because you're the Ghost King of the Demon Sect?"
The Ghost King was taken aback. Wasn't that title enough?
"Bi Yao and I are best friends. If you hurt me, she'd be heartbroken! Then she'd stop speaking to you! And run away from home! You might never see her again!"
The Ghost King rubbed his chin. Had Tian Buyi's daughter just threatened him?
Seeing his daughter come out from behind Youji and run over to hook her arm through Tian Linger's, the Ghost King rubbed his chin and looked away.
"I feel so conflicted!"
"Saintess, why were you waiting for us here? Did you know we'd come?" Seeing how awkward things had gotten, Qinglong hurriedly changed the subject.
"I've been waiting for you for ages!" Bi Yao complained, looking at the three of them. "If I hadn't been waiting to meet you, Ling'er and I would've gone exploring on another branch ages ago!"
"Aunt You, come with us later! I'll show you something fun! There are so many sights here you'd never find anywhere else!"
At Bi Yao's invitation, Youji glanced at the Ghost King. When he nodded, she turned to Bi Yao and gave a gentle nod.
Delighted, Bi Yao hooked one arm through each of their arms and tugged Youji and Tian Linger along, skipping off.
