The arc ended with Ling Fengzhui challenging Xiao Yan to a fight to the death at the boundary between the second and third layers.

• Huo Xuan revealed himself as a Soul Clan impostor, claimed the Flame Clan’s quota, and took the slot after Xiao Yan warned Huo Zhi not to risk fighting him.
• Lei Dong revealed himself as a Dou Sheng, and Gu Zechuan opened the Heavenly Tomb so the sixteen participants could enter.
• The clan geniuses fought Huo Xuan and the Soul Clan, but an enormous swarm of Ancient Devouring Insects interrupted the battle and drove them deeper into the tomb.

Xiao Yan defeated Ling Fengzhui, learned of the Soul Clan’s influence over the Spirit Clan, and rescued Huo Zhi while uncovering the danger Tang Qiying had left within her. Gu Qingyang revealed Xun Er’s suffering and the Ancient Clan’s choices, but Xiao Yan left determined to protect her without accepting the clan’s approval.

• Xiao Yan overcame Ling Fengzhui’s True Spirit Severing Heaven Slash with his Heavenly Flames, and Ling Fengzhui accepted defeat and entrusted Xiao Yan with his inheritance and the truth about the Spirit Clan’s submission to the Soul Clan.

Xiao Yan reunited with Lei Jingxiao and fought Tang Qiying, while Huo Zhi confronted the truth about her brother Huo Xuan. Hun Feng escaped with the Nihility Devouring Flame Child Flame after Xiao Xuan’s men rescued Xiao Yan, who hurried to the fourth level to meet Xiao Xuan.

• Xiao Yan and Huo Zhi trained on the third level, reunited with Lei Jingxiao, and set out toward the fourth level before encountering Tang Qiying and his Soul Clan allies.
• Xiao Yan separated from Huo Zhi and Lei Jingxiao to face Tang Qiying, whose second head raised his soul power to the Heavenly State and whose stolen Flame Clan mark boosted his strength to one-star Dou Sheng.

Xiao Yan restored the Xiao Clan bloodline, reached Dou Sheng, and gained several clan marks before helping Xiao Xuan wound the projections of Gu Yuan and Soul Heavenly Emperor. He left the Heavenly Tomb with Lei Jingxiao and Xun'er, who chose to leave the Ancient Clan, while a faint ripple appeared at Xiao Yan’s brow.

• Xiao Yan reconciled with Xun'er in Xiao Xuan’s tomb, and Xiao Xuan explained that restoring the Xiao Clan bloodline could awaken Xiao Yan’s clan mark.
