Nature

Dou Qi is cultivated by absorbing power from the external world. It manifests outwardly as destructive force, while soul power is characterized as more internally restrained and suited to controlling matters within the body 919.

A cultivator’s Dou Qi capacity normally rises with breakthroughs. Increasing that capacity without advancing is described as rare; Xiao Yan’s use of a meditation cushion is an exceptional case that expanded his reserves while leaving his realm unchanged 953.

• Medicinal pills — Pills can restore depleted Dou Qi, though Xiao Yan considers pills refined by others inferior to his own 243.
• Energy crystals and energy bodies — Heavenly Tomb energy crystals contain pure Dou Qi that can strengthen a user and restore battle expenditure; repeated use gradually yields diminished gains 823 851.
• Dense natural energy — A Heaven-class cultivation method such as the Flame Mantra can automatically absorb the abundant Dou Qi of an environment over time 838.
• Specialized resources — Pure liquid Dou Qi produced from refined Dou Sheng power enabled Xiao Yan to advance by a full star 733.

Combat Applications

Dou Techniques

Dou Qi powers Dou Techniques, from standard combat arts to Heaven-tier trump cards. Higher-tier techniques require substantially more energy: even Xiao Yan, whose reserves were unusually large for a Half-Saint, could use only two Heaven-tier techniques consecutively at peak condition 831.

Condensation and Storage

Origin Return Manor developed a method to gather the compatible fighting qi of more than one hundred disciples through a spirit-gathering formation. Role in Alchemy

Alchemy requires both soul control and sufficient Dou Qi. Higher-tier pills take longer to refine and demand increasingly large energy reserves, meaning a low cultivation rank can ultimately restrict an alchemist’s progress 181.
