The hostility between Peacock Spider and the Black Alliance was plain to see.
Jiang Qian read the situation, and his thoughts gradually cleared: the Black Alliance wanted him badly enough to expose a "piece" they had planted within Jinping's official ranks. Clearly, they intended to cultivate him as an important member.
But what about Peacock Spider?
She had been pestering him so relentlessly. To say she had genuinely taken a fancy to him? That was a bit too fanciful.
More likely, some bizarre fetish had led her to regard him as a toy—or perhaps private property.
For the moment, the Nematomorph whose face had been smashed into the ground lay still.
Yet in Jiang Qian's sight, the Evil Demon avatar—its back bearing tattered wings, its body gaunt and shriveled—had already latched tightly onto the thick black body.
It had succeeded.
Ayiguli withdrew her attention.
First, she kissed the giant spider beside her on the face and whispered a few words to it. The enormous, brightly colored spider obediently flexed its long legs and crawled out of the tent.
Then she stared at Jiang Qian and Ye Xiaojing with keen interest, her gaze growing sharper by the moment.
"You still haven't answered my question, Brother Jiang. When did you start fooling around with this female mantis?"
Her voice carried both an ambiguous sweetness and a hint of grievance.
As she paced forward, she continued talking to herself.
"It's so unfair. I'm deeply in love with Brother Jiang, devoted to you heart and soul. Am I not more lovable than this female mantis who only knows how to keep a cold face? Why can't you ever be moved by me...?"
"And if you weren't moved, fine. But you even tried to kill me. Do you know how scared I was back then?"
