Namek had three suns hanging in the emerald sky, their light reflecting off the vast lake as a few wisps of thin clouds drifted lazily by.
This planet had once been peaceful and serene, but it had suffered a devastating blow not long ago, leaving behind heavy casualties.
"Dende, have the Dragon Balls been collected?"
Nail flew in from the distance, cradling a Dragon Ball the size of a basketball in his arms.
Dende, a five-year-old Namekian child, pointed his finger at the Dragon Balls on the ground one by one. "Including the one you have, we are still missing one."
"The Seven-Star Ball? It is with one of the elders who has already passed away. I will go retrieve it." Nail glanced at the Dragon Balls on the ground and confirmed.
The Dragon Balls of Namek were created by the Grand Elder and entrusted to seven elders for safekeeping. To obtain a Dragon Ball, one had to surpass them in wisdom, strength, and other qualities.
Only those who earned the elders' recognition and were granted the status of a hero could summon the eternal dragon and have their wishes granted.
But this time, the Grand Elder had personally spoken, ordering the Dragon Balls to be used to resurrect the Namekians killed by Vegeta.
The Grand Elder had entrusted this task to Nail and Dende.
"Damn Saiyan, next time I will kill him with my own hands!" Seeing the tragic state of his fallen kin, Nail was consumed by a towering rage.
"It is fortunate that we have the Dragon Balls."
Dende felt a sense of relief. He had managed to save several severely wounded Namekians, but for those who had already perished, he was powerless.
At least thirty or forty Namekians had died this time, and the eternal dragon Porunga could only resurrect one person per wish.
This meant that one summoning of the eternal dragon could revive three people, after which the Dragon Balls would require a one-year cooldown before they could be used again.
To resurrect all the clansmen killed this time would take at least ten years, and that was only because the Namekian population was small.
However, one year on Namek was equivalent to only 130 days on Earth.
Just as Nail set off to find the final Dragon Ball, seven space pods tore through the atmosphere of Namek, trailing long plumes of fire.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The seven pods slammed into the ground, causing a massive impact that felt like a minor earthquake.
With a hiss, the hatches popped open, and seven figures stepped out slowly: Dodoria, Zarbon, and the Ginyu Force.
"Finally here. I was about to suffocate!"
Burter, with his blue skin, stretched his body. He claimed to possess the fastest speed in the universe.
"I heard there is a very strong Namekian here. Don't any of you fight me for him; I want to stretch my limbs." Recoome, with his pineapple-like hair, grew excited.
"Why should I let you have him? Let's stick to the old rules: rock-paper-scissors," Jeice, with his red skin, retorted.
"Such a simple mission, why did Lord Frieza make us all come?" Guldo, who looked like a toad, complained.
"Let's get to business first. See where the surviving Namekians are gathered."
Captain Ginyu, who had two black horns on his head, scanned Namek with the scouter on his face.
Ginyu was immensely powerful and possessed a unique technique to swap bodies, so his true appearance remained unknown.
After all, the body he currently inhabited had also been obtained through a swap.
Dodoria and Zarbon exchanged bitter smiles. Whether in terms of strength or status, they were far behind the five members of the Ginyu Force.
They had been sent by Frieza merely to act as assistants to the Ginyu Force.
"Found them. A large number of Namekians are gathered in that direction, and that strong Namekian is also flying toward that gathering spot."
Ginyu pointed in a direction and shot into the sky, with the other six following closely behind.
The seven of them arrived at the village where Dende was located at high speed and immediately spotted the six Dragon Balls resting on the ground.
"Those glowing spheres must be the Dragon Balls, right?" Dodoria dragged his obese body forward.
"Only one missing. That really saves us a lot of trouble." A smile appeared on Zarbon's handsome face.
"Who are you people!?"
The Namekians in the village sensed danger and shielded the Dragon Balls behind them.
"We are the ones here to take over these Dragon Balls," Dodoria teased.
"Brother Nail will be back soon! He is a warrior-type Namekian; you will definitely be defeated!"
Dende was trembling all over, but he still gathered the courage to confront the villains.
"He must be talking about that strong Namekian. With one Dragon Ball still missing, perhaps it is in that person's possession."
Judging by the scene before him, Ginyu realized the Namekians were in the middle of collecting the Dragon Balls. They had arrived at the perfect time.
"Then we wait for him to come. We still need these Namekians to teach us how to use the Dragon Balls to make a wish."
Hearing Ginyu's words, Dodoria and Zarbon stopped their advance.
"Captain Ginyu, what exactly is Lord Frieza's wish?" Burter asked, puzzled.
Before they departed, Frieza had specifically called Ginyu aside to give him instructions.
"Of course, it is to obtain eternal life, so that he can rule the universe forever," Ginyu said.
"As expected of Lord Frieza, the greatest ambitious man in the universe!" Recoome and the others cheered.
Watching them cheer, Ginyu remembered the task Frieza had entrusted to him, and an unnatural flush appeared on his face.
In truth, Frieza had another wish: he hoped to grow five centimeters taller. He had always been self-conscious about his height.
But Ginyu wouldn't dare tell anyone, even if it killed him. Frieza had specifically ordered him to chase everyone else away when he made the wish.
As they were talking, they suddenly looked up to see three space pods, like three burning meteors, crashing onto the surface of Namek.
"Huh? Why do these three space pods look so similar to the ones we arrived in?" Jeice frowned.
"Did Lord Frieza send others as well?" Guldo turned to look at Ginyu.
"I received no such notification." Ginyu shook his head slightly, feeling equally puzzled.
Logically, if Frieza were to send reinforcements, he would have informed him, the captain.
Besides, among Frieza's subordinates, who could possibly possess greater combat power than the Ginyu Force?
"Beep, beep, beep!"
As the seven of them looked in that direction, the scouters on their faces suddenly emitted a shrill alarm.
The numbers on the screens climbed rapidly, jumping in increments.
"Bang! Bang!"
The scouters on Dodoria and Zarbon's faces exploded instantly, as the readings exceeded the devices' limits.
The scouters they were using were both older, basic models.
"A combat power of over 160,000!?"
The five members of the Ginyu Force were horrified. Their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets, and a chill shot straight to their skulls.
The numbers on the screens felt as if they were crushing them, making it hard to breathe.
"160,000!!"
Upon hearing the number, Dodoria and Zarbon trembled violently, unable to control themselves, and collapsed to their knees with a thud.
"Impossible! In this universe, besides Lord Frieza's race, there cannot be anyone stronger than us!" Guldo shrieked in agony.
"I know who they are!" Ginyu's expression turned grim, as if he had recalled some unpleasant memories.
"How could these three have arrived on Namek ahead of schedule?"
