Michael's eyes widened, his face filled with disbelief. He stared at Gabriel, unspeakable shock surging through his heart. He had never expected that this loyal companion, who had followed him since Tears of Angels was founded, would turn out to be the traitor who had betrayed him.
The dagger's negative effects were eroding Michael's defenses. He struggled free from Gabriel's restraint, while the members who had rushed over glared at Gabriel in righteous fury.
"What exactly did he offer you to make you betray President Michael?" one member roared angrily.
"Forget the invader for now. Take down this traitor first," another member added.
All the members loudly echoed, "Take him down! Take him down!"
Gabriel looked calm, though complicated emotions flickered in his eyes. Thinking of Mu Fengyu's promise, he firmed his resolve once more.
As he looked at the companions he had once fought alongside, his heart was filled with bitterness. He did not want to betray Michael, but Mu Fengyu was offering far too much. He could only bear the pain and send these companions on ahead of him.
He still had a wife and children to support. Surely President Michael would understand.
"President, have you ever heard the old saying? Every man for himself, or heaven and earth will destroy him. For the sake of my better life, please die."
With that, he charged at Michael with his dagger. The members behind Michael shouted, "Protect the president!" and tried to stand in front of him.
A healing-type magic caster jogged over to Michael, intending to heal him, but most of the surrounding companions, like Gabriel, suddenly withdrew from the guild.
Their companions, who had laughed and joked with them in the past, struck without warning. The unprepared members were instantly killed by several of them. Michael stared blankly at it all, still unable to believe it.
With a bang, a massive hammer sent both the magic caster and Michael flying to one side. The wielder picked up [Heaven-Supporting God], walked around Gabriel and the other two, and respectfully handed it to Mu Fengyu.
Mu Fengyu cheerfully took [Heaven-Supporting God] and gave Michael a teasing smile.
"Hahaha! Watching your own companions betray you with your own eyes, then seeing them treat me, the invader, with such respect—isn't that interesting, Michael?"
"To tell you the truth, I put a great deal of effort into finding out everything about your guild members. Then I spent a little pocket money, and now your guild is mine."
Michael crouched halfway to the ground without responding or rising. His eyes were hollow and deep, as though they had lost all color.
He looked at those once-familiar faces. They had once been his comrades, his companions, but now they had become his enemies.
His heart was filled with pain and struggle, but he knew there was no way back for him.
Mu Fengyu looked at Michael, the smile on his face growing even brighter.
He swung [Heaven-Supporting God], and the guild members who had betrayed Michael gathered around him. They drove Gabriel and the other two, along with the surviving angels, to one side. Their eyes were filled with awe and worship.
Mu Fengyu seemed to have become their new leader. They were willing to go through fire and water for him without hesitation.
Seeing that Michael had not reacted for so long, Mu Fengyu curled his lip in boredom.
"Tch. You can't even handle this much of a blow? Then I'll give you a chance."
As he spoke, Mu Fengyu raised his divine artifact-grade weapon, [River of Life and Death]. Azure light radiated from the orb and shot in every direction. Countless pits appeared around Michael, while shattered voids filled the sky, only to vanish after appearing for a brief moment.
The white flower above Mu Fengyu's head also began to shine. Every angel still defending the guild, along with Mu Fengyu himself, slowly disappeared. Mu Fengyu looked at Michael and said coldly, "Before I finish dealing with this bunch of trash, I'll grant you the right to run. If you haven't escaped by the time I come out, then you can be buried alongside your guild."
Gabriel, the other two, and the group of angels were pulled into the domain by Mu Fengyu using [Cecilia's Flower]. The instant they entered, the vast, boundless grassland before them left them stunned.
"Wow, the inside of this domain is actually an endless grassland," one angel could not help but exclaim.
A voice came from beside them.
"Yes, it's very beautiful, isn't it? The other companions are all terribly jealous of my [Cecilia's Flower]."
Upon hearing the voice, they realized after only a moment that this was the effect of the World-Class Item Mu Fengyu possessed.
Gabriel looked at the tranquil grassland and said darkly, "Hmph. Is the effect of your World-Class Item merely to imprison us here? Aren't you underestimating us?"
"He's actually here by himself. How arrogant," Raphael said disdainfully.
"Hahaha, perfect. We'll kill him and seize this World-Class Item!" Greed flashed in Sraosha's eyes.
Mu Fengyu merely sneered. "A bunch of ignorant fools. Do you really think you'll succeed so easily?"
Gabriel glared furiously, raised his longsword, and pointed it at Mu Fengyu from afar. "Mu Fengyu, don't get too cocky! You don't have much HP left. Today will be the day you die."
Mu Fengyu shrugged and said indifferently, "Oh? Then go ahead and try. Let's see what kind of 'surprise' this grassland has in store for you."
"Everyone, attack! Kill him!"
At Gabriel's command, the angels drew their weapons and charged toward Mu Fengyu.
Mu Fengyu crossed his arms without making any move to defend himself, waiting for their attack. Gabriel took the lead, bringing his longsword down directly at him.
Just as the sword was about to strike Mu Fengyu, a red-haired girl with a giant rafflesia atop her head suddenly appeared. Barefoot and holding a strange flower-shaped tower shield, her petite body steadily blocked the attack for Mu Fengyu.
Gabriel and the others were all startled. They stared wide-eyed at the girl who had suddenly appeared.
The red-haired girl slammed her tower shield downward, and an invisible ripple spread in every direction. Those nearby were forced back by an unseen force.
Mu Fengyu revealed a pleased smile and looked at the red-haired girl. "Well done, Felicity."
Felicity did not respond. She raised her tower shield again and faced Gabriel's group with full vigilance.
Gabriel's expression darkened further as he gritted his teeth. "Damn it, another troublesome fool. But there are so many of us. At most, she can only hold back one person. Let's see what you do now."
Standing behind Felicity, Mu Fengyu struck a flashy JoJo pose, one hand against his face as he said in an exaggeratedly JoJo-like manner, "Oh? Do you think I have no other options? I have more than one NPC like this."
"W-what?"
As soon as he finished speaking, all kinds of girls approached from every direction: a little girl with green hair and yellow clothes, a white-haired girl with rabbit ears, a mature red-haired beauty in black...
Every one of them was barefoot, and each bore a slight resemblance to Mu Fengyu.
The surrounded group looked around in terror. Every NPC was at least LV80, and each was followed by numerous insect-like monsters resembling plants.
