Rebel PL 6000.
Rebel was nearly driven mad by Mu Fengyu interrupting him at every turn. Every one of his plays had been stopped, but fortunately, the monsters on his field weren't weak and couldn't be dealt with easily.
All he had to do was wait until his next turn. A single [Original Lifeform] Token with 5400 ATK would be enough to finish him off.
Looking over at Mu Fengyu, Rebel saw him close his eyes and place a hand on the card slot. He murmured,
"Traptrix, with the bond between us, you'll appear, won't you?"
Mu Fengyu stroked the card and slowly opened his eyes. Printed on it was a beautiful garden, with a little green-haired girl standing in the middle.
Excitedly, Mu Fengyu slapped the card into the slot on his left and shouted,
"Just as I thought! The bond between duelists never lies!"
"I activate the Field Spell [Traptrix Garden]. I Normal Summon [Ranka Traptrix] from my hand and activate her effect, adding one [Trion Traptrix] to my hand."
In an instant, the field below transformed into a garden. Lush green grass spread across it like a virus, and a brown-haired girl burst straight out of the ground.
"Next, I Link Summon [Sera the Traptrix] using Ranka."
"I activate the effect of [Parallel eXceed] in my hand. When a Link Monster is Summoned to the field, I can Special Summon it together with another eXceed from my Deck."
Ranka's figure on the field gradually shrank, becoming a little blue-haired girl with twin tails. A surge of lightning followed, and when it faded, two identical mechanical dragons hovered behind Sera.
Mu Fengyu swept his arm out and cried,
"I Xyz Summon [Felicity] by overlaying the eXceeds! Then I activate the Trap Card [Cloth Armor]!"
A face-down card in his back row slowly flipped up. A ghost with blue flames atop its head and cloth armor draped over its body appeared behind Sera.
"Activate Sera's effect to Special Summon [Ranka Traptrix] from my Deck. Then activate her effect to return one set card to my hand and set it again."
"Next, I activate Sera's effect again, setting a Trap Card on the field."
"I Normal Summon [Trion Traptrix] and activate her effect to add a Trap Card to my hand."
"Finally, I activate my face-down card, the Spell Card [Light Seal]. It remains on the field for three turns, and while it's there, my opponent's monsters can't battle in Attack Position."
A small part of the garden gradually turned into a desert. A girl with pincers atop her head slowly emerged from the sand. Five blades of light stood planted in the ground behind her.
Iron chains intertwined between the ends of the blades. As soon as they connected, every monster on Rebel's field changed from Attack Position to Defense Position.
Mu Fengyu took a deep breath and said calmly,
"Turn end."
Rebel took one look at the monsters on Mu Fengyu's field and burst into laughter. He immediately started taunting him without mercy.
"Hahahaha! Do you really think these monsters with no Attack Points can beat me? Or do you think you can hold out for five turns until [Lava Golem]'s effect kills me?"
"At most, all you've done is buy yourself three more turns."
"My turn. I draw. I set one card in my back row."
Rebel drew a card and Special Summoned Saron.
"Hold it!"
Mu Fengyu raised a hand to stop him from continuing his play and flipped over a Trap Card.
"[Bottomless Trap Hole]! It can be activated when your opponent Summons a monster with more than 1500 ATK. I destroy that card!"
Perhaps because his plays had been interrupted so many times, Rebel seemed utterly calm now. With three powerful monsters backing him up, he wanted to see what else Mu Fengyu could do.
"Whenever a Trap Card is activated, Sera can Special Summon one [Traptrix] in Defense Position. I Summon Trion and activate her effect, then destroy the face-down card in your back row."
"Sera activates her effect again, setting one Trap Card in my back row."
Rebel PL-1000 PL 5000.
Rebel simply ended his turn, then asked,
"No matter how much you stop me from building my board, what are you going to do about the three monsters on the field?"
"That's none of your business. I'll have you out of here in two turns."
"My turn. I draw. I Link Summon [Predaplant Verte Anaconda] using two Trions, then activate its effect by paying 1000 Life Points."
"[Fusion Destiny]! I Fusion Summon two [Destiny HERO] monsters from my Deck."
The moment the silhouettes of two people appeared, an unseen force warped them and fused them together. A wave of heat swept over the field, and a monster with fiery wings and a birdlike mask on its head flew in front of Mu Fengyu.
"[Destiny HERO] Phoenix Enforcer! I activate its effect, destroying itself and the [Original Lifeform] Token!"
Flames blazed across Phoenix Enforcer's body, enveloping it in scorching fire. Without hesitation, it charged at the [Original Lifeform] Token. The instant it drew near, flames rapidly wrapped around the Token's body.
No matter how it struggled, there was no sign of the flames going out. They burned until both monsters had been reduced to ash.
"Then I end my turn."
Mu Fengyu PL-1000 PL 2600.
"My turn. I Summon [Sword Smith] A-Tai."
"I activate Felicity's effect, detaching one material and sending a Trap Card from my Deck. She gains that Trap Card's effect."
"Destroy a monster with 1500 or more ATK."
Mu Fengyu gave him no chance to make another play, keeping him completely locked down. Rebel set one card and numbly ended his turn.
Rebel PL-1000 PL 4000.
"My turn. Phoenix Enforcer's effect brings it back from the Graveyard this turn."
"I activate the Trap Card [Rescue Device], returning [Nibiru, the Primal Being] to my hand. Then I activate Sera's effect to Special Summon [Atra Traptrix]."
"I Summon [Genlisea Traptrix], then Xyz Summon [Traptrix Allomerus] using Genlisea and Atra."
A red-haired girl appeared in a flash of light.
"Phoenix Enforcer's effect! I destroy itself and the Lava Golem!"
The same scene played out once again. Phoenix Enforcer gave its life to take care of the enemy.
"Now, Allomerus, attack in Attack Position! Target the [Brave Token]!"
The girl collided fiercely with the glowing silhouette. After a flash of light, the silhouette shattered and slowly vanished into the air.
Rebel PL-200 PL 3800.
"Verte Anaconda, Sera, attack directly!"
Verte Anaconda's long, slender body slammed straight into the barrier in front of Rebel.
Rebel PL-500 PL 3300.
A gleaming green stream of light gathered in Sera's hand. She, too, crashed into the barrier alongside Verte Anaconda.
Rebel PL-800 PL 2500.
Rebel let out a sigh of relief. If he could draw that card next turn, he still had a chance to turn the tables.
Mu Fengyu looked at him, stroking his Deck as he spoke.
"Do you think you'll draw the card you want? Or do you think I'll give you another chance?"
"You've already used up all your attack opportunities. How could you possibly beat me this turn?"
Mu Fengyu sneered, his thoughts returning to a few days earlier.
"Yu, this card took me everything I had to get. You're the only one among us with a chance to win."
Peroroncino supported Momonga. Momonga's breathing was noticeably heavier now, and his voice came out hoarse.
"Cough, cough... I don't know if I'll still be around to see you win the championship, but, Yu, let this card witness your victory in my place!"
Mu Fengyu made a tearful expression as well. He took the card and said solemnly,
"Don't worry, Momonga. No matter what, I'll bring the trophy back."
As soon as he finished speaking, Momonga returned to normal. He scratched his skull with one hand and asked in confusion,
"Yu, I still don't understand what this is all about."
