Schicksal was an extremely powerful fictional organization in the Honkai world, and one of the earliest organizations in that world to fight "Honkai."
It had been founded with the goal of eradicating "Honkai" from the world and already existed as early as the 5th century AD. As for who had founded it... due to the passage of time, no one knew anymore except for a very few individuals.
What people did know was that, in the 14th century... Schicksal officially became a secret organization led by the Apocalypse Family.
It originated in Europe, and later established branches across the world, completely controlling most regions and nations in Europe and Asia.
Because the organization had initially been structured around a religious framework, its leader, Apocalypse... was known as the "Archbishop," and it operated under centralized rule.
Even during the Middle Ages, European kings had to receive the Archbishop's approval before their ascension could be considered legitimate. Schicksal could be said to have been modeled after Christianity and the Catholic Church.
And its history was astonishingly similar—except Schicksal had been far more domineering.
Take Europe's famous Crusades, for example: a series of renowned religious military campaigns launched by Pope Urban II of the Roman Catholic Church that lasted nearly two hundred years.
But while Europe's Crusades had been grand in scale, they had only targeted European nations. The Fourth Crusade, for instance, had targeted the Eastern Orthodox Byzantine Empire. In the territories they occupied, the Crusaders established dozens of Crusader states, the largest of which was the Kingdom of Jerusalem, along with countries such as the Principality of Antioch and the County of Tripoli.
But that was all there was to it. So many small European nations sounded impressive, but their actual territory was nowhere near as vast as one might imagine.
