Theresa raised her hands and looked at the white lace gloves Hlökk had become after the Völundr. They looked no different from the gloves she had been wearing before.
But now she understood why Brunhilde had said that Hlökk's abilities suited her quite well.
Hlökk, the eleventh of the thirteen Valkyries.
Her name meant "weapon collector"!
Her trait was that she could turn any object into a divine weapon—or rather... grant objects the properties of divine weapons.
In this world, human weapons could not harm gods. Though the divine bodies of this world's gods could not compare to those of orthodox mythology, they were still one of the reasons gods were so powerful.
Ordinary weapons could do nothing to gods. This was one reason the gods were so confident and disdainful of humanity. Divine bodies, divine weapons, and divine authority—these three things, beyond the reach of mortals, made them confident to the point of arrogance.
Hlökk's divine weapon trait allowed any object she touched to become a divine weapon capable of harming gods. That was incredibly powerful!
It was practically giving any object a special anti-divinity effect.
The reason it suited Theresa's abilities was that Hlökk's trait could grant the flying blades and swords Theresa created the power to slay gods.
They could then be called divine weapons!
However, she had to touch something to grant it divine weapon properties, which was quite a major limitation. If she could give any object godslaying properties from a distance... that would be far more convenient.
And Theresa should be able to do that.
Just as before, she could use divine marrow... to make Hlökk stronger.
