Nalan Yanran is the treasured granddaughter of Nalan Jie and the direct disciple of Yunlan Sect Leader Yun Yun. Her status as the sect's future young leader, combined with repeated encouragement from fellow disciples, led her to view her engagement to Xiao Yan as a source of shame.
