After recruiting Hai Bodong and heading toward his nephews in Rock Desert City, Yang Chen encountered the Medusa Queen over the Green Lotus Core Flame, and their battle began above the magma.

• Yang Chen reunited with Xiao Yan, revealed he was his maternal uncle, and arranged for Yao Chen to train him while keeping their meeting secret.
• When Nalan Yanran tried to dissolve her engagement to Xiao Yan, Xiao Yan repudiated her, and Yang Chen killed Mo Li after he threatened him.
• Yang Chen proposed a three-year contest for Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran, then challenged the Yunlan Sect and dispersed its Cloud Smoke Sun-Covering Formation.
• Yun Yun agreed to guide Nalan Yanran and keep the Yunlan Sect in check while Yang Chen gave her part of Wind Lord Feilian’s cultivation method and urged Nalan Yanran to become strong enough to challenge Xiao Yan.

Yang Chen secured Medusa Queen’s cooperation, arranged for Xiao Ding and Xiao Li to train, and became entangled in the struggle over the Heavenly Flame. After spotting Soul Hall members near Wutan City, he prepared to advance his plans as Xiao Yan arrived.

• Yang Chen defeated Medusa Queen, gave her a secret evolution technique, and won her agreement to help deal with the Yunlan Sect in exchange for the Heavenly Flame.
• Yang Chen met Xiao Ding and Xiao Li, arranged for Lei Na and Lin Sen to train them harshly, and had Hai Bodong bring Qing Lin to him.
• Yang Chen welcomed Qing Lin into True Lord Hall and gave her the Purple Crystal Winged Lion as a companion while Medusa Queen prepared to evolve.

Yang Chen took Zi Yan under his protection, built his influence in the Black-Corner Region, and subdued Jia Nan Academy’s Fallen Heart Flame for Xiao Yan. Xiao Yan continued his training and secured rare ingredients through Ya Fei, setting his sights on the Alchemist Grand Meeting.

• Yang Chen gave Xiao Yan a prepared Beast Flame and news of his brothers before leaving him to cultivate with renewed determination.
• Yun Shan learned that Yang Chen was the surviving Yang Clan orphan he had once spared, worried Yang Chen might uncover his role in Yang Tianlin and his wife’s deaths, and ordered Yun Leng to investigate the Xiao Family.
• Yang Chen rescued Zi Yan from Eight Fan Sect men, defeated Yuan Yi and Han Feng’s allies, and accepted Zi Yan as his daughter after she called him Daddy.
• Yang Chen gathered Su Mei, Yin Bone Elder, and Tie Wu into the True Lord Hall, then visited Jia Nan Academy and negotiated over its Fallen Heart Flame.

Yang Chen returned to the Jia Ma Empire and helped guide Xiao Yan as he reached adulthood, entered alchemy, and prepared for Jia Nan Academy. After learning that Nalan Yanran had grown stronger, Xiao Yan left for the Magic Beast Mountain Range to train and gather ingredients.

• Yang Chen reunited with Zi Yan, who chose to remain in the Black-Corner Region, then attended Xiao Yan’s coming-of-age ceremony and gave him the Ten Thousand Beast Cauldron.
• Yang Chen sparred with Xiao Yan, revealed that Xiao Yan’s mother had died protecting the Xiao Family, and agreed to cover Xiao Yan’s debt to the Mite'er Auction House.
• After Ya Fei warned him of the Misty Cloud Sect’s investigation of the Xiao Family, Yang Chen questioned Yun Yun about Yun Shan and wept beneath the moon after leaving her.
