Jiang Ding watched the several hundred Nascent Soul Cultivators kneeling before him.
Some were of the Tiger Race, some of the Vine Demon Race, some human, some of the Stone Person Race... there were all manner of races among them. All had been needed by the Rock Demon Clan, the former rulers of this minor world, to fill various roles in production and service—or simply as food.
Some were older Nascent Soul Cultivators who had lived through the Immortal Sect era.
Others had become Nascent Soul Cultivators only in recent years.
The older Nascent Soul Cultivators should have had Immortal Sect restrictions in their souls. Those were traces left behind when the Immortal Sect armies had swept through back then. They could not possibly have let the slave races of these minor worlds move about freely without basis, relying only on their own self-awareness and morality.
Of course, the Immortal Sect's restrictions only stipulated that they would not activate so long as the relevant laws were not violated.
Immortal Sect citizens could not casually bully cultivators of minor worlds as members of the Horned Demon Imperial Clan did.
Immortal Sect citizens had their own laws restraining them. Even people like the Great Sun Heavenly Lord and the Sun Slayer Heavenly Lord had to spend time in a cell now and then. For ordinary Immortal Sect citizens to strut about in arrogance, rule a nation in a minor world, have countless powerful figures flocking around them, and casually kill servants—such things were absolutely impossible.
The soul restrictions should have been there, yet they were not.
"Where are the restrictions in your souls?"
Jiang Ding asked.
"Heavenly Lord..."
The Nascent Soul True Lords trembled, their bodies turning cold. They could not even speak properly.
"Open your souls. I need to examine them."
