Background / History

Early life and martial training

Jiang Ding began learning martial arts at seven and spent nine years practicing the universally taught Young Eagle Takes Flight Formula. Despite possessing Five Spiritual Roots and considering his aptitude near the bottom among Blueglow Star martial artists, he persisted with the difficult sword-art branch rather than choosing an easier path. 2

While a student in Banyan City, he trained to Peak Bone-Tempering Realm and relied on academic knowledge—mathematics, physics, biology, formations, and cultivation theory—to deepen his swordsmanship. His understanding improved sharply after acquiring the Broken Sword Tip, which enabled him to seize insights he had previously been unable to retain. 1 3 7

The Broken Sword Tip also granted him access to another world. He entered it armed with drones, medical supplies, a tactical helmet, and a longsword, immediately recognizing the need to conceal his modern equipment from local cultivators. 3 4

Yue Kingdom and the Seven Feathers Sect

During his early travels, Jiang Ding defeated opponents above his realm, saved the injured Gong Caiyu with a Yunnan Baiyao pill, and formed a temporary alliance with her. His willingness to help did not make him careless: he retained control of their supplies, monitored danger with drones, and remained prepared to kill should she turn hostile. 6 8 9

He advanced to Inner Qi, developed and refined a talisman sword, and defeated Chen Chen, Zheng Ye, and the Eastern Pacifying Marquis's Estate army by dismantling their formation and targeting its officers. 20 62 72

After pursuing the Seven Feathers Sect's Ascension Gathering, Jiang Ding became increasingly involved in sect affairs. He later delegated projects intended to improve the lives of Yue Kingdom's common people and established the Mortal Inspection Office through Chen Xi, Liu Sanqi, and Winter Three. 149 192 204

Great Sun inheritance

Jiang Ding's research into the Great Sun Sword Pavilion's legacy became central to his path. He studied the Great Sun Seed-Sword Tempering Art under Professor Zhang Junsheng, gained access to Great Sun Sword Sect inheritances, and ultimately secured the Great Sun Sword Pavilion's three major legacies. 304 725 885

After the Sword Pavilion's inheritances gathered upon him, he became the sole holder of Great Sun Sword Heir authority. The Great Sun Heavenly Palace later authenticated his soul keys over ten years and recognized him as the eighteenth master of the Great Sun Sword Dao. 1164 1747

Appearance

Jiang Ding commonly appears as a youthful human in blue, azure, or green robes, with a sword at his waist or in hand. Even after reaching higher realms, his restored Dharma Body is described as that of a sixteen-year-old youth. 9 771 1771

  • Carries a longsword or the Supreme Clarity Flying Sword almost constantly; he considers losing his sword equivalent to losing half his combat strength. 106
  • Has been described in military dress as youthful, elegant, and heroic, though too young-looking to naturally project majesty. 771
  • His later cultivation produces a blue-gold sword aura and a Sword Soul sensitive to hostility and killing intent. 157 1237

Personality

Jiang Ding is intensely diligent, analytical, and unwilling to rely solely on inherited authority. He treats cultivation as both research and practice, routinely studying papers, formations, historical records, cultivation methods, and enemy techniques alongside direct combat experience. 304 663 837 1900

He is compassionate toward ordinary people and emphasizes protecting the weak as part of one's Dao Heart. He invested personal resources into civilian administration, sought better conditions for Yue Kingdom's people, and taught his attendants that strength carried a duty to protect the innocent. 192 303 437

That compassion does not extend to tolerating threats. Jiang Ding is methodical about revenge, ruthless against hostile cultivators, and willing to kill when he judges it necessary. He prefers preparation and retreat over reckless battles, but deliberately seeks strong opponents when they can advance his Sword Dao. 28 781 836 1587

His pursuit of powerful opponents also creates a danger: prolonged sword refinement and unmet killing intent can provoke manic thoughts or inner demons. He actively uses cultivation and sword intent to restrain those impulses. 770 781 870

Jiang Ding is a sword cultivator whose Sword Dao advances through study, experimentation, and life-or-death combat. He reached the second realm of sword qi, Sword-Qi Thunderclap, during his battle with Yu Qianzi; later achieved the third realm, Refining Sword into Silk; and eventually employed fourth-realm sword arts against the Horned Demon Imperial Clan's kings. 663 837 1102

Order Powers and Six Paths Reincarnation

Jiang Ding developed and manipulated order-based power through sword qi, including six orders that could be rearranged into different structures. His Six Paths Reincarnation structure later became a core component of his cultivation and combat system. 1230 1263

  • Used order powers to suppress dozens of Imperial Heirs with one sword strike. 1242
  • Employed the Human Realm Path of the Six Paths Reincarnation to restore an interstellar civilization destroyed by Light-Thunder Heavenly Lord's technique. 1445
  • Combined his Sun and magnetic principles into order-breaking sword arts. 1240
  • Continues refining the Six Paths Reincarnation Structure as a long-term transformation of his path rather than a completed technique. 1794

Formation, artifact, and technical research

Jiang Ding is an accomplished formation analyst and cultivation researcher, though he openly recognizes the limits of his expertise when a project exceeds it. 969

  • Studied a fifth-tier high-grade formation for a year, identified its weakness, and disabled it with one strike. 1006
  • Designed and modified regional formations, including the Ice Soul Divine Radiance Sword Formation. 1037
  • Refines swords, talismans, magical tools, and formation components; he considers basic magical-tool forging standard knowledge for Golden Core cultivators with Immortal Sect education. 581
  • Conducts research on electromagnetic sword flight, Great Sun Sword Dao formations, Metal-Extinguishing Sword theory, and warship systems. 304 627 837
  • Relies on specialists such as Divine Mechanism Heavenly Lord for projects beyond his own formation Dao level. 969

Concealment, surveillance, and mobility

Jiang Ding combines sword cultivation with modern reconnaissance and concealment methods.

  • Operates drones capable of high-altitude reconnaissance and strength estimation. 3 4
  • Cultivated the Minor Breath-Concealing Technique to completion. 146
  • Reached minor mastery in Magnetic Void Flash and Magnetic Concealment Art. 547
  • Set a hundred-kilometer aura-lock net to track Mu Tianxue while remaining concealed. 498
  • His Void Refinement divine sense can scan approximately 170,000 kilometers. 1539

Governance and command

Jiang Ding has served as an Immortal Sect aerospace commander and as patriarch of Tushan Immortal City. He manages warfare, research, personnel, finance, and long-term regional development through direct orders, divine-sense imprints, and delegated administration. 290 437 970

  • Led a temporary Aerospace Brigade and killed late Golden Core cultivator Chen Shi True Person with a single sword strike. 290
  • Oversaw the occupation of the Magnetic Earth Realm after the defeat of Black Tortoise Heavenly Palace. 800
  • Became the acknowledged human sovereign of the Northern Plains when Nascent Soul True Lords gathered to pledge allegiance. 964
  • Delayed wars when he judged that further economic, industrial, and military development would provide better odds of victory. 1016
