Background / History

The lineage is an ancient Sacred King inheritance associated with Patriarch King Xia Yu. Its founding patriarch is described as a manifestation of a Sacred King, and its core tradition includes the fortune and dragon-vein arts of a Sacred King Dao lineage. 198 284 340

Paulownia Mountain itself is said in legend to have formed from a grain of Nine-Colored Self-Growing Soil left by King Xia Yu. The Divine Mountain is regarded as a root of terrestrial mountains and earth qi, giving the lineage an unusually strong connection to land, state-society authority, and divine-path cultivation. 378 384

The original lineage had twelve second-generation disciples. Three died during an ancient war, leaving nine patriarchs; by the time of the Prince Jun dispute, five had ascended beyond the realm, two wandered the outer void, and Azure Origin Patriarch and Violet Lightning Patriarch remained to guard the sect. 319

Zhang Jian entered the lineage through the Three Trials of Paulownia Mountain and was assigned to the Demon-Slaying Lineage. After resolving the trials, he formally became a true disciple and gained access to the sect's direct inheritances. 85 97 100

Under the Great Xia Dynasty, the lineage moved from seclusion into open political and spiritual influence. Zhang Jian appointed the Demon-Slaying True Lord as Dharma Master Protector of the Nation and established Paulownia Mountain as Great Xia's state religion. 360

The sect later lifted its mountain-sealing restriction, restored its demand for a “population tax” from nearby immortal sects, and rapidly recovered control over the three hundred provinces surrounding Divine Mountain. 393 402 Its leadership then pursued the wider unification of the Eastern Hanging Divine Continent, intending to reactivate the Nine Cauldrons grand formation and prepare for an approaching calamity. 446 479

After Zhang Jian attained Dao Lordhood, he was appointed Vice Headmaster of the Paulownia Mountain Dao Lineage. 630 The sect was subsequently reestablished in the Origin Candle Realm under the support of Zhang Jian, Yu the Great, and the Qingqiu lineage. 678 680
