Uchiha Fugaku had barely left the village when the White Zetsu hiding dozens of miles away immediately spotted him and turned to pass the news to Black Zetsu.
Black Zetsu didn't dare delay. He went straight to Uchiha Madara. "Lord Madara, Fugaku has left the village. Judging by his direction, he's heading toward the Hidden Mist."
"Heh, he finally couldn't sit still." Madara curled his lips. "He doesn't want to stay in the village and wait to die. He wants to surpass Uchiha Senichi and take back the clan leader's position."
"Unfortunately, his horizons are too narrow. A single clan leader's position has him completely tied down. How far can he possibly go?"
He paused, his tone turning cold. "But since he wants to make trouble, we'll give him a hand."
"Once he's finished his business, we'll deal with Uchiha Yan as well. By then, I'll be able to go to the Pure Land and have a chat with Hashirama in peace."
The thought of his plan falling into place step by step put Uchiha Madara in a good mood.
"Let's go. I'll send my Shadow Clone to have a talk with Uchiha Fugaku. This time, he won't be allowed to keep running wild."
Madara split a Shadow Clone from his body. Black Zetsu took the clone underground and chased after Fugaku. In less than an hour, they had already circled ahead of him and blocked his path.
Fugaku abruptly raised his hand. "Stop!"
Uchiha Chuan and the several clan members behind him immediately halted.
Fugaku glanced at Black Zetsu and at the man standing with his back to them. That figure looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen him.
"You take the long way around and wait for me up ahead. I'll catch up soon."
