"Hmm..." Jin rubbed his chin. There did seem to be something like that, and thinking that he might not have much time after tomorrow, he said, "All right, then I'll teach you some basic genjutsu today."
"Yay!" Kurenai hopped happily.
And because this place was close to the Uchiha Clan Compound, Jin said, "Let's go. To my house. Save some time."
"Okay!" Kurenai quickly nodded, her face full of longing to learn genjutsu.
Uchiha Clan Compound
Seeing an outsider come here, even though she was a girl, the people of the Uchiha Clan still all showed wary expressions. But when they saw the boy walking in front...
So it was the pride of the Uchiha—Uchiha Jin. Then it was fine.
"Jin, bringing a friend over to play?"
"Not bad, Jin. You brought a girl home..."
The clan members passing by all took the initiative to greet Jin, and Jin responded politely as well. Kurenai curiously observed her surroundings. She had also heard some rumors: the Uchiha Clan was extremely hostile to outsiders.
But these clan members did not seem to reject her... Kurenai looked at Jin's back and thought silently, is it because of Brother Jin...
"We're here, Kurenai." Jin led Kurenai into his small courtyard.
"Wow, Brother Jin, is this where you live? It's so pretty!" Kurenai looked at the courtyard, with its artificial hill, green trees and pavilion, as well as some flowers and plants, and could not help exclaiming.
"It's all right." Jin shrugged. He had not originally lived here. Later, Mikoto had felt that Jin lived too far away from her and Fugaku, so she had allowed Fugaku to indulge in a tiny bit of willful use of authority.
The Uchiha clan members had no objections to this either. After all, it was very normal for geniuses to receive some special treatment.
Jin did not care. A place to live was a place to live. More importantly, he did not have to take care of these things himself—Mikoto would regularly order Fugaku to come tidy them up...
The two of them walked to the pavilion in the small courtyard and sat facing each other. Jin took out the basic scrolls and theoretical knowledge Shinku had given him before from a small drawer nearby and handed them to Kurenai.
"Read the theory first, then ask me if there's anything you don't understand." Jin brewed a cup of tea and handed it to Kurenai.
"Mm-hmm." Kurenai nodded, her face full of smiles.
With nothing else to do, Jin also took out the scroll Hiruzen had given him and began reading it seriously. It was not until the sun got off work that Kurenai reluctantly put down the scroll. "Brother Jin, it's getting late. I should go back."
"Mm." Jin looked at the darkening sky. "Let's go. I'll see you home."
"It's fine, Brother Jin. I can go back by myself." Kurenai hurriedly stood up. Jin waved a hand and said, "It's not safe for a girl to go back alone. Come on, I'll walk you."
Seeing that she could not refuse, Kurenai said awkwardly, "Sorry to trouble you, Brother Jin."
"It's fine. If Senior Shinku is busy, just come to my place to study." Jin stood as he spoke. "If I don't have a mission, I'll usually be at home."
When Kurenai heard there was such a good thing, she quickly nodded. "Okay, thank you, Brother Jin."
After sending Kurenai back, Jin seized the time to go home and sleep. If he did not sleep soon, he might end up spacing out in the Anbu the next day.
Early the next morning
Hiruzen considerately sent an Anbu member to bring Jin to the Anbu headquarters to report in.
Jin looked around. Everything was pitch-black, with only the light of a few candles faintly illuminating the place. A faint smell of blood permeated the air, and the overall feeling it gave off was extremely oppressive.
"Ahead is the Anbu hall. On the left is the Anbu prison." The Anbu member leading Jin explained coldly, "On the right is the archives room. You'll slowly become familiar with it in the future."
"Thank you, senior," Jin said calmly. In the Anbu, he did not need to maintain his obedient persona. After all, this was the place in all of Konoha where respect was most won through strength.
When they arrived at the place to receive equipment, an Anbu member handed the gear to Jin. "Your codename is Crow. Remember to take good care of your identity plate."
"Thank you," Jin said flatly.
When he arrived at Squad One's lounge, all the members of Squad One had already gathered there. Seeing Jin arrive, an Anbu wearing an eagle mask said, "Your locker is the third one. Gather at the Fifth Training Ground in ten minutes."
After saying that, the Anbu led the others away. Jin put away his belongings. After putting on the equipment exclusive to the Anbu, he looked at the cat mask in his hand and muttered, "So I've joined the Anbu just like that..."
In about five minutes, Jin arrived at the Fifth Training Ground.
The three Anbu had long since been watching Jin's arrival from the side. Jin activated his Sharingan as he walked, silently observing the others.
One person was leaning against a wooden post, while two were crouching on top of the posts. After Jin took three more steps forward, the two Anbu suddenly threw shuriken and kunai at Jin.
From the perspective of the Sharingan, Jin did not dodge at all. He simply stepped forward at a steady pace.
The shuriken and kunai brushed past Jin's ears. "What are you doing?" A person walked out from behind Jin and rebuked the Anbu.
"Captain, we were testing the rookie's strength." A team member wearing a black tiger mask spoke up in explanation.
The Anbu wearing the eagle mask, who had spoken to Jin earlier, also said, "He's too young. We were afraid he'd drag us down."
"If you're dissatisfied with the higher-ups' decision, you can go report it," the person in the wolf mask said coldly.
Then he took the initiative to remove his mask and looked at Jin. "I'm the captain of Squad One, Sarutobi Gennosuke. Codename Badger."
The Anbu with the frog mask leaning against the wooden post also removed his mask. "Yamanaka Rin. Codename Cicada."
"Akimichi Yuguchi. Codename Fangs."
"Aburame Seiichi. Codename Sparrow."
Jin also took off his mask, revealing his young face and blood-red Sharingan. "Uchiha Jin. Codename Crow. It's nice to meet you. Please take care of me."
"Jin, now I need you to remember the Anbu's rules and structure, as well as the code signals," Sarutobi Gennosuke said in a deep voice.
"Okay." Jin nodded.
"In the Anbu, we primarily address each other by codename. Our Squad One is the strongest among all Anbu squads, so our missions are also the most dangerous..." Gennosuke explained.
For the entire afternoon, aside from explaining the Anbu's structure, the rest of the time was spent in combat drills. Relying on the coordination between the Flying Thunder God and the Sharingan, Jin made it so that no member of Squad One dared look down on this youngest member of the Anbu.
When it was time to disband, Gennosuke instructed, "Tomorrow, our squad will be responsible for checking the surveillance. Crow and I will form one group and handle the afternoon. Cicada, Fangs, Sparrow, you three will form one group and handle the morning. Dismissed!"
After Gennosuke said dismissed, everyone vanished from the spot.
After Jin changed back into normal clothes in Squad One's lounge, the others returned one after another.
Seeing that Jin had already changed, Fangs could not help teasing, "Crow, your Body Flicker is really fast." After getting to know him over the course of the afternoon, he already understood that the other party was a teammate he could entrust his back to.
"It's all right," Jin replied with a smile. In any case, they would all be teammates from now on, so naturally it was only right to build a good relationship.
"Crow, want to go eat barbecue? Fangs is treating." Sparrow also chimed in at this moment.
"Oh? Really?" Jin turned to look at Fangs. Fangs nodded very boldly. "Yeah. Anyway, even if there's a mission tonight, it won't be our turn."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go." Jin immediately agreed. As everyone knew, eating together was the first step in getting closer to colleagues.
What surprised him, however, was that the Akimichi clan were not supposed to all be fat? Why was Fangs not fat, but instead rather lean and sturdy? And were the Aburame clan not supposed to be silent and taciturn?
Why did Sparrow talk so much?
