Wyrmrest Temple symbolized the heart of the dragonflights, but ever since what had happened ten thousand years ago, it had become the Red Dragonflight's de facto territory.

After the Earth-Warder Neltharion had fallen and become Deathwing, the Black Dragonflight had become universally reviled and rarely appeared at Wyrmrest Temple.

The Spell-Weaver Malygos had gone mad and was lucid only occasionally, so he spent most of his time lying within the Eye of Eternity in delirium.

The Dreamer Ysera almost never left the Emerald Dream, while her body remained in the nearby Emerald Dragonshrine.

As time passed, Wyrmrest Temple became the Red Dragonflight's territory, to the point that even the Ruby Dragonshrine was no longer important.

It had been some time since the Blue Dragonflight's last siege of Wyrmrest Temple. This time, the scale was even greater. Blue Dragonflight dragons of every color and kind filled the skies around Wyrmrest Temple.

Led by the Blue Dragon Prince Arygos, they numbered over a hundred blue dragons, several hundred Nether Dragons and Proto-Drakes, along with a small number of storm dragons.

The red dragons, meanwhile, had no other subspecies among them—only red dragons. Their numbers were no weaker than those of the Blue Dragonflight. Over a thousand dragons gathered at Wyrmrest Temple as the Nexus War finally reached its decisive moment.

Before the battle began, however, Rend made a suggestion. "I propose that a champion from the Blue Dragonflight and a champion from the Red Dragonflight engage in a duel. Neither side may use magic or dragon breath."
