Wrathgate Angrathar

After the Nexus War ended and Dalaran crashed, Dragonblight entered a brief transitional period. During this time, the Warsong Offensive, Blackrock Expeditionary Force, and Valiance Expedition repaired their strongholds and rescued the wounded while dispatching troops to establish fortresses at the Wrathgate, the final gateway to Icecrown Glacier.

Grand Duke Bolvar Fordragon led forty thousand elite soldiers of the First Legion in establishing Fordragon Hold on the western side of the Wrathgate.

General Dranosh Saurfang led twenty thousand newly reinforced Kor'kron Vanguard troops, primarily from the Frostwolf Clan, along with ten thousand Taunka warriors, in establishing the Kor'kron Vanguard Camp on the eastern side of the Wrathgate.

The Alliance and Horde had gathered a total of seventy thousand elite troops to take Angrathar, the Wrathgate, and then directly attack Icecrown Citadel, where the Lich King resided.

The Lich King's Icecrown Citadel was forged from Saronite, and Angrathar, the Wrathgate, was the same. The massive Wrathgate stood even taller than Wyrmrest Temple, and with its chilling, evil aura, it was unquestionably an extremely difficult fortress to conquer.

Large numbers of elite Scourge troops continually poured out from the Wrathgate. Responsible for establishing a defensive line against them were Archbishop Turalyon's Lightforged Draenei and Sun King Kael'thas's Blood Elves.

The Lightforged Draenei possessed an innate advantage against undead creatures and were the most suitable choice for dealing with the Scourge. Therefore, Grand Duke Bolvar Fordragon assigned Archbishop Turalyon's Lightforged Draenei to defend against the relentless attacks of the Scourge elite.

Commanding the Lightforged Draenei forces was Army of the Light commander Lothraxion.
