As the Horde army stormed into Stormwind, the Mogu army far away in Pandaria's Dread Wastes also launched an assault on the Mantid's final palace, the Heart of Fear.
The battle in the Dread Wastes had lasted so long for two reasons. On one hand, the Mogu army had needed to be continuously transported by sea, delaying both the timing and their opportunities in battle. On the other, Lei Shen wanted to completely eradicate the Mantid of the Dread Wastes and bring an end to the cyclical war that had lasted tens of thousands of years.
During this time, Lei Shen called upon the remnants of Mogu clans throughout Pandaria in the name of the Thunder King. Those Mogu clans that had once fought on their own all flocked to the Dread Wastes from across Pandaria after hearing that Lei Shen, the Thunder King and emperor for all ages, had returned to life, joining his army.
The Mogu clans from every region soon allowed Lei Shen to rebuild an army of one million. Though the quality of those million Mogu varied greatly, every Mogu was a born warrior.
After gaining command of a million troops, Lei Shen launched an all-out war on the Dread Wastes. Battles between Mogu and Mantid broke out almost everywhere across the Dread Wastes, and that terrifying war had continued until now.
Lei Shen's army had once again wiped out nearly a million Mantid. After suffering such a blow, the Mantid likely would not recover even after five hundred years, yet Lei Shen remained dissatisfied with that result.
He wanted to exterminate the Mantid completely! Even if he had to turn over every inch of the Dread Wastes, he would kill every hidden Mantid and prevent them from continuing to breed in the shadows.
