At last, they arrived in Dalaran.

Vereesa narrowed her eyes as she surveyed the human city. Much smaller than Silvermoon City, but so fresh and pleasant.

"We are diplomatic envoys from Quel'Thalas. Hurry and take us to the island," she called to the mage apprentice stationed on the shore.

The sight of him blankly reciting the spell drew a burst of laughter.

Vereesa knew she was beautiful. This was not the first time people had stared dumbly at her when she entered human lands. Usually, she either waited for them to recover on their own or gave them a little outside help.

Smack! Her short sword struck the chair, startling him like a clap of thunder. The apprentice cried out and covered his mouth, clearly having bitten his tongue, drawing another round of laughter.

Vereesa's companions laughed without restraint. Someone else could have handled the negotiations, but she was the newest and least experienced member. Their party of Farstriders had come from Quel'Thalas to undertake a Farstrider trial.

Alterac was in the season ruled by the Winter General. At this time of year, only madmen would cross Chillwind Pass. Yet the elven Farstriders were just that mad. With their superb skills and their leader's intimate knowledge of the terrain, the dangerous journey became training. Wind and snow added a layer of hardiness and a measure of experience to each of them.

The group took a ship to Dalaran. They would rest at their designated stop for three days before continuing their journey on foot into the Wetlands on the southern continent beyond the Arathi Sea.

The moment Vereesa stepped onto the island, she warily examined every elf in sight. None of them seemed as beautiful as she was, which put her mostly at ease.
