Background
Alleria is the eldest of the three Windrunner sisters. She is already an established Farstrider when Shane Dawnblade first meets her through Vereesa, and she is assigned to the Ghostlands while Troll activity intensifies there 4 7 23.
As the Ghostlands' highest military commander, Alleria initially treats Shane as an unwanted Dawnblade mage imposed upon her command. She orders him to obey her authority, attempts to expose him as unworthy of Vereesa, and has the rangers exclude him at Windrunner Outpost 14 15. Despite this hostility, she formally credits Shane's battlefield contributions in her routine report, praising his role in saving spellcasters, warriors, and civilians 22.
Her opposition becomes personal after learning that both Sylvanas and Vereesa have feelings for Shane. She initially insists that she will never love him, then seeks to end her engagement and win him for herself after Shane's mentor publicly announces their intended marriage 135 139 140. By the Northrend expedition, she is officially recognized as Shane's fiancée 146.
Appearance
Alleria is a tall, mature High Elf with golden hair, sapphire-blue eyes, and a slender build. She is often seen in practical ranger equipment rather than court dress.
- Fair complexion and a long, elegant neck 4 15
- Golden hair, notably lighter than Sylvanas's 129 140
- Sapphire-blue eyes shared with her sisters 135
- Wears chainmail or light ranger armor with a cloak 15 249
- Carries and fights with twin swords 252
Personality
Alleria is proud, forceful, and highly competitive. She dislikes conceding ground to either the Dawnblades or her younger sisters, and initially approaches Shane as a threat to Vereesa and Sylvanas rather than as a potential partner. Her instinct is to seize initiative, whether in family disputes, politics, or diplomacy 15 52 140 202.
Her ambition is tempered by a strong sense of responsibility toward Quel'Thalas. Sylvanas believes Alleria will not place private grudges above the kingdom's interests, a judgment borne out when Alleria independently pursues relations with the Wildhammer Dwarves 202 203. In Netherstorm, she is deeply affected by the suffering of fel-corrupted Elves and commits herself to organizing relief for them despite knowing that not all can be saved 283 284.
