Strimwheedle Hotsand stayed in Zutona for three days. After that, the goblin business tycoon could no longer wait to leave.
Before leaving, however, he left behind a large number of goblin engineers, goblin mages, goblin alchemists, and other talented goblins. He took away a thousand enchanted weapons made from special magical wood and animal hides, along with large quantities of other goods, such as the elemental cores produced by Fire Plume Ridge.
Zutona and Gadgetzan reached an agreement.
The two sides would become friendly cities. Gadgetzan and the Steamwheedle Company—at this point, the Steamwheedle Cartel was not yet a cartel, merely a company.
Gadgetzan and the Steamwheedle Company would provide Zutona with the supplies and assistance it needed, while Zutona would hand over its surplus production to the goblins for sale.
Zutona would not accept gold, silver, or their derivatives—gold coins and silver coins. It only wanted various supplies, materials, or technical personnel.
This should originally have been the goblins' favorite kind of trade: barter. They would not have to watch glittering gold coins flow away, and while they still had to exchange goods for goods, it felt better to the goblins.
However, Tonatiuh and Strimwheedle Hotsand reached an agreement that the goblins found somewhat unpleasant.
Tonatiuh demanded that their trade include Zutona's own currency: Aztek Coins.
Put simply:
Zutona and the trolls would use Aztek Coins to purchase services and goods from the goblins. Naturally, the prices would be negotiated in advance and written into the agreement. Then, at the prices stipulated in the agreement, within a certain range of fluctuation, the goblins would use the Aztek Coins produced by the trolls to purchase all manner of supplies from the trolls...
The trade agreement and the prices of various goods would be renegotiated once a year.
