Superheroes had always existed in people's hearts only in comics, American TV shows, or movies. They longed to meet heroes like that, and they longed to become heroes like that. Yet the cruelty of reality still kept people struggling through the hardships of everyday life.

Lu Mingyu was merely a freshman who had just entered university. He knew nothing, because his college life had not yet begun. He had not learned how to communicate with people or how to make true friends.

He knew nothing about the affairs of society. He did not want to learn about the disappointing reality—or rather, the reality that could drive people mad. What he longed for was a world like those in American TV shows or movies. Perhaps he would not be a superhero in that world, but simply being able to see those people would be enough for him.

His thoughts were childish and somewhat extreme.

But an event soon made his fantasy come true. And he was not a passerby, but a famous hero.

Having just received his admission notice, Lu Mingyu naturally relaxed completely. He watched American TV shows and played on his computer, living a carefree life. This was the kind of worry-free life he liked best. Having no understanding of the real world, he had long since lost any yearning for it because of its cruelty.

He had once longed for the world of adults, but now that he was eighteen, he had grown up. He had seen so many unemployed people and the competition of real life. He believed this was society, full of cruelty.

Lu Mingyu had seen too many beggars and pitiful people. He truly hoped he could help them, so a strange emotion began taking root in his heart. Yet the direction in which it grew became escape.

He began to lose himself in the worlds of novels and American TV shows.

Lu Mingyu was a Marvel fan and a DC fan, so he had plenty of comics, American TV shows, and movies to watch whenever he rested.

Lu Mingyu was watching television alone in the living room while his mother cooked in the kitchen. Afraid that she would disturb him watching TV or that the fumes would drift out of the kitchen, she shut the glass door. Seeing Lu Mingyu's excited expression from the corner of her eye, she felt relieved. Her child had gotten into a good university. She felt that Lu Mingyu's future was wide open.

"I am the fastest man alive. My name is Flash." Lu Mingyu watched the subtitles of the American TV show. English had always been his weak point, so he could only rely on subtitles. Sitting on the sofa, he watched Flash with excitement. Speaking of which, Flash was his favorite. But it was all fictional, so after watching Flash, Lu Mingyu wished more than anything that he could go to the city where Flash lived. Even seeing Flash every day would be enough.

Lu Mingyu was completely absorbed. He did not notice the faint lightning flickering on the television screen at all. His attention was focused more on Barry. He thought Barry's portrayal of Flash was truly great, so he watched the show with particular seriousness.

Then, lightning suddenly appeared, illuminating the unlit living room with dazzling brightness. At that moment, Lu Mingyu's mother rushed out of the kitchen as well. She watched her son get struck by lightning, and the numbing sensation brought by that lightning caused her to fall unconscious.

At the very least, the sight of Lu Mingyu being struck by lightning and vanishing was forever branded into his mother's mind.

Countless bolts of lightning appeared around Lu Mingyu's body. Rings of cracks that tore through space continuously overlapped before him. The sound of space being ripped apart quickly made Lu Mingyu lose consciousness, but in the instant before he fainted, he saw a streak of blue lightning carrying him swiftly away!

A golden bolt of lightning split from the blue lightning. The two kinds of lightning continuously coiled around and collided against Lu Mingyu's body. The intense shockwaves shattered every piece of furniture in his home. The television seemed to be the center of the current, with blue lightning endlessly surging out from it like thunder in the darkness, carrying the fury of the gods as it viciously lashed Lu Mingyu's body.

Flash continued playing on the television screen. The lightning in the living room trembled again and again along with the music before gradually fading away.

Lu Mingyu disappeared with it.

A streak of golden lightning flashed through the black space. Its owner accidentally noticed Lu Mingyu's existence and sensed the Speed Force being born within him. Yet the owner of that golden lightning did not find this Speed Force familiar. Instead, he felt that it had become strange. He did not know what had happened, but having stopped, he was observing Lu Mingyu's changes.

He was an old man. His hair and stubble were already snow-white, but vigor still flowed through his eyes. Clearly, though the old man looked aged, he was incredibly, incredibly powerful.

"Is he turning into Flash? Heh heh, this kid is in for trouble. How could becoming Flash be so easy? Beneath that glamorous exterior is hell. I hope he can endure it."

The old man did not continue observing. He transformed into golden lightning and vanished in an instant.

When Lu Mingyu's mother woke up, Lu Mingyu had already disappeared. Strange scenes and strange memories echoed through her mind.

Even when the police arrived, they did not dare believe everything that had happened. This place had indeed been struck by electricity, but they could never bring themselves to believe that Lu Mingyu had vanished.

Indeed, the police had checked the surveillance footage from this floor and the cameras around the residential complex. They could prove that Lu Mingyu had returned home, but they could not understand why he had suddenly disappeared from his room.

Not understanding did not mean they believed Lu Mingyu's mother's testimony.

They did not believe that being struck by lightning could make someone disappear!

Lu Mingyu opened his eyes to a striking starry sky. Rubbing his head, he sat up from the grass and looked around. He remembered being struck by an electric current. Under normal circumstances, he should have been in a hospital.

But what was this empty grassland? He was far from the city, somewhere in the suburbs.

The starry sky here was especially captivating. Looking at the faintly visible Milky Way, he thought, Once I earn money, I'll bring my family to live in the suburbs. The environment and the stars here are so beautiful.

But everything exceeded his expectations. Within the starry sky, a point of light was slowly growing larger. He widened his eyes, cursed, and said, "Holy shit, Iron Man!"

That was right. Iron Man's red-and-gold armor was falling from the sky at the speed of sound. Lu Mingyu could clearly see that the armor was already covered in damage, and it had obviously lost its ability to fly. At this speed, there was no way Lu Mingyu could dodge it. He took a small step back, but countless bolts of blue lightning emerged around him. Everything around him stopped moving, as if time itself had frozen.

Lu Mingyu looked at everything around him and thought he might have gone insane. Maybe the lightning had fried his brain. But how could an idiot think he was an idiot? Lu Mingyu thought this to himself, then suddenly realized that perhaps he was trapped inside his own mind. After all, everyone had their own thoughts. In other words, perhaps he was unconscious right now, his body was in the hospital, and his mind was in some illusory mental world?

Clearly, that explanation did not seem very real either.

Still, as long as he could survive, that was enough.

Lu Mingyu ran several steps, avoiding the spot where Iron Man's armor was about to land.

The lightning vanished, and time began moving once more. Lu Mingyu stared wide-eyed as Iron Man slammed viciously into the ground. The enormous shockwave nearly sent him flying. Covering his face, he looked through the gaps between his arms and saw Iron Man's armor slowly coming apart. It was as though some kind of energy was crushing and twisting the armor.

Flames surged directly into Iron Man's armor like crimson dragons. Lu Mingyu could not stand by any longer. Since he possessed Flash's abilities, he should use them to put out the fire, right? Even if this was a dream, he still had to help his superhero idol!
