The Daily Planet devoted extensive coverage to the shocking report, complete with photos, evidence, and testimony from victims. More impressively, they had supposedly even obtained two live vampires from who knew where.
The experts who had previously sworn up and down that vampires were nothing but nonsense all fell silent, and nearly all of New York was in an uproar. Then, within just a few days, the news spread out of New York City and across the country like a virus, before being carried around the world through the internet...
Some people began trying to control the news, but it was already too late. Explosive information was like a flood; it simply couldn't be held back. Before long, the entire world knew.
Vampires were real, and they lived among us.
Compared to news of superheroes saving the world somewhere or two major powers standing on the brink of conflict, this was the sort of news that provoked the fiercest reaction. The former might sound like major news too, but it often didn't directly affect most people. Most people felt those things had little to do with them. Superheroes could save the world over there, while ordinary people still had to go on with their lives, as though nothing had changed.
But vampires were different. This concerned a race that hid in the shadows and fed on blood. They might be lurking around every corner you passed, appearing at any moment. They lived among humans, and every day, you had to live with the fear of becoming a vampire's dinner.
