Background / History

Blue Star is a remote inhabited planet under the Central Galactic Empire. It entered the interstellar age within the last century, but its martial civilization remains at an early stage and is described as far behind that of the Empire's developed worlds 2 17.

More than a century before the present, off-world figures introduced martial knowledge to Blue Star. The Blue Star United Government subsequently announced that Blue Star had always been Imperial territory, that its people were citizens of the Central Galactic Empire, and that the Gregorian calendar would be replaced by the Galactic Calendar 17.

Around seventy years ago, exotic beasts appeared alongside interstellar civilization. Their arrival destroyed more than a dozen human cities and killed several million people before the military suppressed them 2. Beast tides later intensified, with threats capable of endangering Grandmaster-level martial artists; approximately twenty years ago, Blue Star's leadership began continuously mobilizing troops and establishing defensive lines against the invasions 2.

In Chen Lie's previous life, Blue Star was ultimately destroyed during a beast tide 1.

Geography and Administration

• Blue Star has eighty-nine provinces and a population exceeding ten billion 1 20.
• East River Province, where Chen Lie lives, is among Blue Star's relatively poor and lower-ranked martial provinces 1 9 20.
• The three central provinces include East River and Cloud River; their Mind Reader Association branches share regional records and rewards 45 46.
• Travel between provinces is commonly conducted by miniature airship, with journeys of thousands of kilometers taking little more than an hour 6 41.

Society

Martial strength determines social standing during the Martial Arts Era. Elite students, martial artists, Mind Readers, and major cultivation families command substantially greater status and access to resources than ordinary citizens 24 38.

Blue Star's martial society has rigid class divisions. Even within provincial key high schools, elite and ordinary martial students are separated both institutionally and socially, with little interaction between the two groups 38.

Martial Education

• Martial cultivation generally begins after age fourteen because younger bodies are considered unable to endure Blue Star's body-tempering methods safely 2 3.
• Provincial key high schools maintain elite classes alongside regular martial classes. Elite students receive monthly blood-energy potions and premium nutritional fluid, resources unavailable for ordinary purchase 24 25.
• Elite students are guaranteed admission to at least a key martial arts university, while exceptional students may contend for Blue Star Martial Arts University or Starry Sky University 24.
• Starry Sky University recruits only 3,000 students from Blue Star each year, making admission especially difficult for youths from East River Province 20.

Blood Vitality System

A blood-energy value of 100 is generally sufficient to attempt the Martial Artist realm, but a value of 1,000 is regarded as the foundation for potential Grandmaster-level achievement and eligibility for the Provincial Youth Genius Group 25.

Martial Resources and Economy

Martial cultivation is prohibitively expensive. Passing through the five blood-vitality stages costs an ordinary student at least one million Star Credits, creating a widening gap between wealthy and poor families 9.

• Exotic beast meat raises blood vitality, but is scarce and expensive; stronger beast meat and resources above tier one are controlled by the military 2 49.
• Spirit herbs and martial treasures are critical cultivation resources. Examples include Blood Linglong, Spirit Blood Green Lotus Seeds, Mind-Nurturing Flowers, and Blood Mist Flowers 13 29 33 49.
• Psionic crystal cards allow users to experience an inscribed martial art through spiritual power. Their main cost comes from Mind Reader empowerment rather than materials or manufacturing 6 28.
• Mind Readers are exceptionally rare on Blue Star, estimated at no more than one in ten thousand people. Their ability to cultivate, inspect, and correct spiritual power makes them highly valued 12 37.

Exotic Beasts

Exotic beasts emerged on Blue Star around the beginning of its interstellar era. Their flesh can serve as a powerful cultivation resource, but their repeated tides have become an existential threat to human civilization 2.

• Early outbreaks destroyed more than a dozen cities and caused several million deaths 2.
• Some individual beasts later became powerful enough to threaten Grandmaster-level martial artists 2.
• Reports identify the Kunlun Ruins in Blue Star's northwest as a source from which exotic beasts continually emerge 2.
