Mind Sense

Mind Sense allows a practitioner to perceive beyond the five ordinary senses.

• It can identify objects concealed behind a barrier without physical contact; this is the Association's preliminary confirmation test 42.
• Its sensitivity is measured through a specialized tester and is used to judge mental-cultivation aptitude 42 43.
• Chen Lie's recorded sensitivity reached 1,000, exceeding the tester's stated maximum limit of 333 43.

Spiritual Power Cultivation

Mind Readers cultivate spiritual power within their sea of consciousness.

• Spiritual power can be circulated, condensed, and refined through dedicated cultivation methods 16 17.
• At higher ranks, a Mind Reader can extend mental power to observe their own body and martial cultivation, allowing prompt corrections before problems worsen 37.
• Mental and martial cultivation complement one another; awakened Mind Sense is said to greatly improve comprehension, insight, and learning efficiency 37.
• Improper cultivation can create serious backlash. Zhao Jinglan's attempt to maintain a second sea of consciousness caused her spiritual power to become mutually repulsive and produced severe headaches whenever she circulated it 12.

Spiritual Power Manipulation

A sufficiently skilled Mind Reader can directly influence another person's spiritual power.

• The treatment resolves Zhao Jinglan's splitting headaches, which had persisted for nearly two years despite her consultations with other Mind Readers 13 17.

Psionic Crystal Card Empowerment

Mind Readers are essential to the production of psionic crystal cards.

• An empowered card lets a user experience an inscribed martial art from a first-person perspective, accelerating their ability to learn it 6.

Assessment and Certification

1. Mind Sense confirmation — The candidate uses Mind Sense from half a meter away to perceive an object concealed behind a barrier 42.
2. Mind Sense sensitivity test — A machine measures responsiveness to emitted light-wave signals; repeated use may inflate later results because the candidate becomes familiar with the device 43.
3. Mental power purity test — Mental power is poured into a special crystal card, then diluted into one hundred cards. Causing all one hundred to change color constitutes a pass 44.
4. Mental power strength test — The candidate drives mental power through obstructing mist; Chen Lie deliberately stops at nearly ninety meters, receiving a result of eighty-nine meters 44.
5. Optional consciousness sea test — The candidate constructs a consciousness sea world. Passing this stage earns an Association reward and helps determine potential 44 45.

• Passing the first two assessment stages grants apprentice Mind Reader status 45.
