Principal Lin did not think much of it and pulled out another file, handing it over.
Yu Xiaogang opened it, and his breathing immediately caught.
"Soft-Boned Rabbit... innately full soul power."
He fell silent for a moment, then suddenly laughed.
Good heavens, a tiny Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy had actually received three children with innately full soul power in one go this year.
One had Blue Silver Grass, one had a stone martial soul, and the other had a Soft-Boned Rabbit. All were weak martial souls that should theoretically have been incapable of possessing innately full soul power.
What did that mean?
It meant all three might be hiding tremendous secrets and potential.
Yu Xiaogang carefully stacked the two files and placed them back on the desk. After nodding his thanks to Principal Lin, he turned and left the principal's office.
As he walked down the corridor, his steps were much quicker than before, his mind already racing with calculations.
Based on his years of research experience, he could not be too hasty if he wanted to take on a good disciple.
He already had the title of master and disciple with Tang San, so there was no rush there.
But Yun Tian and Xiao Wu were currently just ordinary academy students and had no connection to him whatsoever.
He needed to make thorough preparations before bringing up the matter of taking them as disciples.
As for what those preparations would be...
Yu Xiaogang stopped at the end of the corridor and looked toward the teaching building.
Once Tang San finished class, he would first ask him in detail about Yun Tian and Xiao Wu.
Those two had fought in the Seventh Dorm today. As someone who had witnessed it firsthand, Tang San should already have a direct understanding of Yun Tian and Xiao Wu's strength and personalities.
Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will win every battle. Taking disciples followed the same principle.
He needed to make sure he held the upper hand in the conversation when facing those two children.
A theory class ended, and the sky outside the window gradually darkened toward evening.
The teacher closed the book, gave a few reminders about key points for review after class, then left the classroom.
The students packed up and rose in twos and threes. Some returned to their dormitories, while others headed to the cafeteria together. The corridor quickly became lively.
Yun Tian had just stood and stretched when a familiar figure appeared at the door.
Yu Xiaogang stood beside the doorframe with his hands behind his back. His gaze calmly swept across the classroom before finally landing on Tang San, to whom he gave a slight nod.
Tang San understood and immediately got up, striding over.
"Teacher, were you looking for me?"
Yu Xiaogang patted his shoulder. "Yes. How was the class just now?"
Tang San answered earnestly, "I benefited greatly. The textbooks you recommended are indeed far more systematic than my own blind fumbling. Several points covered in today's lesson had never occurred to me before."
A trace of gratified pleasure appeared on Yu Xiaogang's face, but he soon lowered his voice. "Tang San, I have a few questions for you about the two new work-study students in your dormitory, Yun Tian and Xiao Wu. You dealt with them this morning, didn't you?"
Tang San paused, then nodded. "I did. Yun Tian is the boss of the Seventh Dorm. I fought him and lost. Xiao Wu arrived later and fought Yun Tian too. She lost as well."
"Tell me in detail." Yu Xiaogang's gaze immediately sharpened.
Tang San pondered for a moment, then truthfully recounted what had happened in the Seventh Dorm that morning.
From being asked to challenge the boss upon entering the room, to the impenetrable earth-element defense Yun Tian had displayed when they fought, to Xiao Wu later barging into the dormitory and issuing a challenge of her own, only to be sent flying by a single palm strike.
He did not conceal his feelings, bluntly stating that Yun Tian's strength far surpassed that of an ordinary one-ring soul master. In particular, the layer of yellowish-brown soul power covering his entire body seemed able to continuously draw energy from the ground to replenish itself. It simply could not be broken through.
Yu Xiaogang fell silent for quite a while after listening.
"What is his soul power level?"
"He said he has innately full soul power, the same as me," Tang San replied.
Yu Xiaogang silently nodded. Just as the file had stated.
With the foundation of innately full soul power and that strange earth-element defensive method, this Yun Tian was even more unusual than he had imagined.
"And Xiao Wu? Did you fight her?" Yu Xiaogang asked again.
Tang San shook his head. "No. Xiao Wu only fought Yun Tian. She is very fast and has strong explosive power, but she also could not break through Yun Tian's defense. Still, I think her combat instincts are formidable. Her string of attacks shifted angles in an extremely tricky manner. If she had not encountered a monster like Yun Tian, anyone else would have fallen long ago."
Yu Xiaogang nodded and asked a few more detailed questions, such as how the two behaved, their manner of speaking, and whether they had mentioned their family backgrounds.
Tang San answered them one by one, though he did not know much about Xiao Wu, since they had only met today.
Yu Xiaogang patted Tang San on the back. "All right, you did well. Go back to the dormitory and rest. I have something to take care of."
Though Tang San was curious about why his teacher was asking these things, he did not press further. He acknowledged him and turned to leave.
Watching him walk away, Yu Xiaogang took a deep breath and turned toward the classroom.
He walked at an unhurried pace, repeatedly weighing his phrasing with every step. First impressions were important. If he wanted to take those two children as disciples, he had to display sufficient knowledge and sincerity before them.
By then, most people had already left the classroom. Only a few students remained, still packing their things.
Yun Tian and Xiao Wu were sitting side by side near the window, apparently chatting about something.
For once, Xiao Wu was not bickering with Yun Tian. Instead, she had leaned closer to say something, while Yun Tian occasionally nodded or gave a brief response.
Yu Xiaogang walked up to them and stopped.
"Student Yun Tian, Student Xiao Wu, I am Yu Xiaogang, a visiting professor at the academy. I have something I would like to discuss with you. Is this a good time?"
Yun Tian looked up at him, his expression calm. "What is it, Teacher Yu?"
Yu Xiaogang pulled over a chair and sat opposite them, his expression solemn. "I heard that both of you possess innately full soul power and performed exceptionally in the Seventh Dorm's sparring match today. I have studied martial soul theory for many years and possess unique insights into soul master cultivation. If you are willing, I can take you as my disciples and systematically guide your training, just as I guide Tang San."
After saying this, he deliberately paused, giving them time to process the information.
Given his theoretical expertise and reputation in the soul master world, even children of noble families might not have the opportunity to receive his personal guidance, much less two work-study students.
Logically, such an offer should have been difficult to refuse.
Yet Yun Tian barely hesitated before shaking his head.
"Thank you for your kind offer, Teacher Yu, but I do not need it."
His tone was calm, and his refusal was clean and decisive, without even the usual polite formalities.
Yu Xiaogang's brows furrowed slightly, clearly not expecting this outcome. "Don't you want to know what I can teach you?"
Yun Tian met his eyes. "No. I understand my own martial soul and the direction of my cultivation very clearly. I also know how to walk my own path. I appreciate your goodwill, Teacher Yu, but let us forget about taking me as a disciple."
