Background & History
Yu Xiaogang spent decades studying martial soul theory, despite his ideas being repeatedly rejected by established authorities. The accumulated frustration of those failures left him with a gloomy, obsessive aura that Xiao Wu instinctively distrusted. 7 9
At Nuoding Academy, he became Tang San's teacher. When he learned that Yun Tian, Tang San, and Xiao Wu all possessed innately full soul power despite seemingly weak martial souls, he regarded them as unusual cases worthy of investigation. 7 8
Appearance
Yu Xiaogang is a middle-aged man with a lean face and calm, deep-set gaze. He dresses plainly and is commonly seen carrying theory books.
- Plain gray robe. 7
- Wears a badge identifying him as a theory teacher. 7
- His martial soul, Luo Sanpao, is a plump earth-yellow creature. 13
Personality
Yu Xiaogang is analytical and methodical, preferring to study records and question witnesses before reaching conclusions. After hearing Tang San's account of Yun Tian's earth-element defense, he recognized that the Earthstone Martial Soul could not be ordinary. 7 8
He is persistent in seeking talented disciples, but does not force those who refuse him. Although disappointed when Yun Tian and Xiao Wu rejected his offer, he left Yun Tian an open invitation to seek his guidance. 8 9
His concern for Tang San is genuine. During their Soul Hunting Forest expedition, he urged Tang San to flee when the Mandala Snake injured Luo Sanpao; he was later poisoned while protecting his disciple. 13 14
