Background / History

Feng Hao operated in Pingjiang Town as a notorious bully with connections to criminal gangs. After Zhao Rong accidentally broke a porcelain vase while working, he falsely claimed it was an antique worth several taels of silver and extorted Wei Luo's family savings as “compensation.” He later returned to demand an additional three taels, retroactively calling the prior payment “interest.” 2

The supposed debt was part of a scheme with Fish-Dragon Gang hall master Li Dadao. Feng Hao was meant to drive Zhao Rong into desperation, after which Li Dadao would pose as her rescuer and exploit her gratitude to make her submit to him. 7

Seeking status and access to martial arts, Feng Hao asked Li Dadao for instruction. Li rejected him as too old to enter the martial path, but allowed him to begin as a Fish-Dragon Gang underling if he proved useful. Feng Hao immediately celebrated his new gang affiliation and flaunted its clothing in public. 7

Personality

Feng Hao preyed on people with little power or recourse, repeatedly targeting Zhao Rong and relying on the threat of his criminal connections to force payment. He was greedy enough to revive a settled debt by inventing further “principal” after collecting supposed interest. 2

Despite his brutality toward ordinary residents, Feng Hao was obsequious before Li Dadao. He flattered the hall master excessively, devised schemes to serve his desires, and viewed gang membership as his path to wealth, influence, and eventual martial instruction. 7

Fraudulent Debt Collection

Feng Hao first appears while violently demanding payment from Zhao Rong. He claims that a broken vase was a valuable antique, although Wei Luo's deduction establishes that the claim is fraudulent. After Wei Luo pays the family savings, Feng Hao returns and demands three taels of silver as alleged principal. 2

Fish-Dragon Gang Scheme

Feng Hao reveals that his harassment of Zhao Rong was coordinated with Li Dadao. His role was to force her into a crisis so Li could manipulate her into willingly becoming his woman. 7

Death

After becoming a Fish-Dragon Gang underling, Feng Hao drunkenly returns home late at night. Wei Luo lures him into a dark alley, blinds him with lime powder, beats him against a wall, and carries him to the Hun River. Feng Hao attempts to save himself by threatening Li Dadao's retaliation, but Wei Luo kills him and sinks his body in the river. 7

His disappearance leaves Li Dadao unable to continue the planned coercion of Zhao Rong, prompting the gang to conclude that Feng Hao is dead. 10
