Gu Heng walked to the table, where the School Terminal displayed the first question.
"Why did Class D retain its unused Exchange Privilege?"
Instead of answering, "For greater flexibility later," he opened the retention page.
"Because the privilege has not yet found someone willing to bear the consequences of using it."
Ryuuen immediately pressed him. "Are you waiting for someone willing to be sacrificed?"
"No," Gu Heng said. "We are waiting for someone willing to explicitly accept the exchange."
The second question appeared: If waiting caused Class D to lose its advantage, who would bear the responsibility?
Gu Heng paused for a moment.
This was not an explanation of the rules. It was forcing him to assign the collective loss to someone.
"Class D will bear the outcome."
"Including you?" Ryuuen asked.
"Including the part caused by the proposal I put forward."
"Only part of it?"
Gu Heng looked at the Public Ledger.
"A choice that was not carried out cannot be written in advance as my responsibility. For proposals that have already been carried out, I will bear responsibility for their origin and judgment."
Horikita glanced up beside him, and for the first time, she did not add anything on his behalf.
That made Gu Heng's words sound more like his own answer.
The third question came from the school instead: Please explain whether your proposal is superior to those of the other classes.
Gu Heng did not use Class D's results to suppress the other classes.
"That cannot be confirmed yet."
Everyone on the rooftop looked at him.
"We only know that Class D's exchange succeeded. That does not prove the long-term outcome will be better."
Sakayanagi smiled. "You will not even declare victory in advance."
"Before the result is out, declaring it has no value."
