The grade-wide Public Inquiry began at eight in the evening.
The school had not arranged a moderator, merely handing questioning rights to representatives from the four classes.
Ryuuen was the first to receive a question card.
"Who drafted Class D's exchange proposal?"
Horikita answered, "Gu Heng made the proposal, its implementation was confirmed by those actually taking responsibility, and I submitted it as the representative."
"Then Gu Heng is Class D's real leader."
"No," Horikita said. "He is the proposer."
Ryuuen looked at Gu Heng. "Did you hear that? She's stripping you of your position as leader."
"She's distinguishing between a role and a function."
The second question card fell into Ryuuen's hand.
"If Gu Heng's proposal conflicts with Sudo's personal choice, who does Class D listen to?"
Sudo answered directly without waiting for anyone to prompt him. "The rules and the person's own confirmation."
Ryuuen raised an eyebrow. "What if the rules allow it, but the class doesn't have enough points?"
"Then the class takes responsibility for the point shortage," Sudo said. "You don't write down that someone agreed when they didn't."
Someone in the back row of Class C chuckled quietly, but Ryuuen did not let them interrupt.
He knew Sudo was no longer someone who could be pushed around with a single provocation.
The third card was directed at Horikita. "Would you demand that someone accept a project they did not want for the sake of class victory?"
Horikita fell silent for a second.
"I might make that demand."
"But I cannot write that demand down as confirmation."
Those words made some people within Class D look up.
Horikita did not present herself as someone absolutely right. Instead, she acknowledged that she might still pressure others.
