Before the next day's Public Inquiry began, Sakayanagi had Hashimoto place a Class A transaction sheet in front of Class D.
There were no points listed on the sheet, nor any items—only one condition: Class A could provide Class D with one Rule Interpretation Review, in exchange for Gu Heng accepting one Individual Inquiry.
After reading it, Horikita pushed the transaction sheet back.
"We won't accept an interpretation review in exchange for Gu Heng himself."
Sakayanagi sat across from them, her expression unchanged.
"This is a transaction, not an exchange."
"To the person being traded, there's no difference," Gu Heng said.
Sakayanagi looked at him. "Do you think I would force you?"
"I think you'd make refusal expensive."
"That is the school's rule."
Gu Heng did not deny it.
The review offered by Class A might help Class D uncover hidden restrictions in the school's inquiry rules, but the Individual Inquiry might also allow Sakayanagi to confirm the boundaries of Gu Heng's Weight Vision.
He divided the transaction sheet into two columns: benefits and costs.
"What can the review confirm?"
"It can confirm whether the school permits a class representative to submit an irrevocable choice on someone else's behalf," Hashimoto replied.
"It cannot confirm who will be expelled, nor can it alter transactions that have already been completed."
The benefit was limited, but it happened to touch upon Class D's current core risk.
Gu Heng did not accept immediately. Instead, he asked, "What if I refuse the Individual Inquiry?"
"Class A will not provide the review," Sakayanagi said.
"Then I accept, but I will review and approve the inquiry's contents myself."
For the first time, Sakayanagi showed genuine interest.
"You want to break the transaction terms apart as well?"
"I will only accept the one condition you explicitly write down."
