Background

Kiryu Yume is a transmigrant who begins a new life at Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School. On his first day, he gives his bus seat to an elderly woman, meets Morishita Ran, and discovers the Mom-Recognition System in his mind. Initially unsure how its conditions work, he resolves to learn through experience. 1

Early in Class A, he recognizes the emerging split between Katsuragi Kohei's orderly faction and Sakayanagi Arisu's looser circle. Katsuragi recruits Yume because of his independent thinking, and Yume initially agrees to join him. 4 Sakayanagi later obtains a video of Yume calling Kamuro Masumi “Mom” and uses it to force him into her group.
