Background

Chu Wen is an orphan who transmigrated from another Blue Star into the body of a second-year Jiangnan Martial University student. During the demon-beast assault on Jiangnan Base City, he served in the Cloudflight Squad, which was assigned to cover civilian evacuation and support the military. The squad’s vice-captain, Zhang Yong, betrayed and abandoned him during the retreat; Chen Dai found him alive three hours later. The near-death experience awakened the blood-colored pearl in his consciousness and its personal status panel. 1

Following Lu Yun’s death, Chu Wen confessed to killing him and accepted punishment from the martial hall. He lost his assets and commendation, then was ordered to remain at home in reflection. At Lu Yun’s memorial service, he encountered Lu’s family and concluded that humanity could have no lasting peace until the demon beasts were eliminated. 3

Jiangnan Martial University later expelled him for misconduct at the Martial Artist Hospital. Liu Shouren offered him work as a fortress scout, intending the dangerous assignment to hinder his development; Chu Wen instead used the position to hunt demon beasts and accumulate resources. 4 5

At Warrior Fortress No. 033, Chu Wen repeatedly ventured into the wilderness alone, returning with valuable beast materials and killing beast soldiers and elementary beast generals. His reconnaissance work, discovery of an abandoned insect nest, and sales of Beast King-grade materials brought him to Chaos Martial Arts Hall’s attention. 5 8 9

Zhuge Lin tested Chu Wen’s extraordinary combat output and reaction speed, then recommended him for special admission to Xinhang Martial University. His application received unanimous approval from Chaos Martial Arts Hall, Xinhang’s administration, and the Jiangnan Martial Faction. 11 12 14

Appearance

Chu Wen is described as having a rough face that is often dust- and blood-stained after wilderness combat. He keeps stubble and initially wears practical combat gear rather than the polished attire associated with martial-family students. 1 3 5

  • Usually carries a combat blade. 5
  • Initially wore a dark-green C-grade combat uniform. 5
  • Later purchased an A-rank combat suit. 38
  • After intensive Blood Bodhi and breathing-method cultivation, his body became more compact and his senses noticeably sharper. 40

Personality

Chu Wen is calm under pressure and notably blunt when he believes a situation requires decisive action. He confessed to the killing connected to Lu Yun’s death without attempting to excuse himself, and he remained composed while facing War God-level pressure from Zhuge Lin. 3 11

He is protective of the Jiangnan Martial Faction, especially Chen Dai, but does not act from simple sentimentality. He uses force against students and extortionists targeting Jiangnan, while also understanding that indiscriminate retaliation would create political consequences for the faction. 14 16 19

Although wary of powerful families and institutions, Chu Wen honors those who help him. He rejected the Li Family’s ten-billion initial offer because Chaos Martial Arts Hall had supported him before anyone else recognized his potential. 30

Chu Wen is highly pragmatic about cultivation and resources. He treats Blood Bodhi Fruits, laboratory access, and demon-beast flesh as bargaining tools, yet he remains willing to teach Chen Dai and quietly protect Jiangnan students in the wilderness. 19 39 49

Abilities & Skills

Primordial Source Pearl and Potential Points

The blood-colored Hunyuan/Primordial Source Pearl is Chu Wen’s central treasure. It creates a panel visible only to him, absorbs Blood Qi and blood essence, and converts accumulated energy into Potential Points for skill advancement. 1 10 22

  • Initially converts 10 Blood Qi into 1 Potential Point. 1
  • Absorbs blood essence from demon-beast flesh, reducing the flesh’s Martial Sense while rapidly producing Potential Points. 22
  • Acts as a protective limiter: it can lock or replace martial skills when Chu Wen’s body cannot withstand their martial sensation, rather than removing the skills from his understanding. 27
  • Allowed Chu Wen to extract 620 Potential Points from Yuchi Yu’s Beast King-grade cold-storage samples. 41

Blood Demon State

Blood Demon State is activated through accumulated Blood Qi or Blood Vitality, granting a short burst of extreme combat power. 1 41

  • Initially increased combat power by 100% for two minutes. 1
  • After his first Blood Qi limit-break, its enhancement rose to 400%. 3
  • After his second Blood Vitality limit-break, it increased combat power by 800% for five minutes. 41
  • Its output can elevate Chu Wen’s fighting strength far beyond his normal realm, but high-output martial skills place severe strain on his body. 6 43

Blood Bodhi Fruit Creation

Chu Wen can condense Blood Bodhi Fruits from stored Blood Qi or Blood Vitality, a capability absorbed by the Primordial Source Pearl after the wilderness training. 36 41

  • Condensed his first fruit from 100 Blood Qi. 36
  • Produced five fruits using 500 Blood Vitality points. 41
  • Used the fruits to secure access to Yuchi Yu’s laboratory and support research into improving Martial Sense. 39 40
  • Keeps the fruits secret because their rarity could attract intervention from major powers. 40 41

Primordial Origin Breathing Method

The Primordial Origin Breathing Method emerged after the Primordial Source Pearl completed its first transformation. It continuously nourishes Chu Wen’s body through Blood Qi circulation. 10

  • Initially caused severe exhaustion after six cycles, forcing him to limit daily practice. 10
  • Reached Minor Mastery during the Dragonspine Corridor Trial, removing much of the corridor’s pressure and improving his ability to understand martial techniques. 25
  • Reached Major Mastery through Potential Points, causing a major physical transformation, denser muscles, and sharper senses. 40
  • Forms the foundation of Chu Wen’s exceptional physique, which he considers more important than raw punching force or speed. 45

Blade Arts

Chu Wen specializes in blade-based martial skills and can form an Invisible Blade with his hand. 3 11

  • Burning Blade Technique — Reached Return to Simplicity, allowing him to produce entry-level War King-level force with an S-grade combat blade. It was later locked after being replaced by newer blade arts, though he retains its artistic realm. 10 12 27 43
  • Abyssal Blade — A ranked blade skill learned from a Dragonspine Corridor pillar and immediately raised to Perfection. Its destructive output exceeds the Return to Simplicity Burning Blade Technique. 27
  • Chaos Blade Technique — One component of the Chaos Combat Method; when integrated with the other Chaos arts, it can produce the technique Yin-Yang Splits Dawn from Dusk. 43

Shadow Follows Form

Shadow Follows Form is Chu Wen’s primary movement martial skill, inherited incompletely through Lu Yun. It is a ranked art with exceptionally high speed and evasion potential. 37

  • Reached Return to Simplicity and broke its limit twice. 43
  • Produces afterimages and allows Chu Wen to evade attacks that appear to pass directly through him. 12 46
  • Enabled him to unleash speed close to that of a high-level War King while fleeing a Beast King. 37
  • Its true inheritance is incomplete, limiting how much of the original art Chu Wen can recover. 37

Chaos Combat Method

The Chaos Combat Method is a four-in-one combat system granted through Chu Wen’s Chaos Martial Arts Hall contract. 42 46

  • Integrates the Chaos Fist Technique, Chaos Blade Technique, Chaos Flash, and Chaos Breathing Method. 42 43
  • Requires all four arts to remain at comparable mastery; imbalance weakens the combined method. 46
  • Chu Wen raised every component to Perfection within two months. 43
  • Combines footwork, force generation, breathing, and blade use into seamless combat sequences. 43 46
  • Allowed him to outmaneuver Pan Angyi and defeat him with one precisely controlled punch. 46

Martial Sense and Combat Analysis

Chu Wen possesses exceptional Martial Sense, allowing him to identify and absorb martial insights at unusual speed. 23 24

  • Immediately noticed changes in the Dragonspine Corridor’s martial intent that most contestants missed. 23
  • Gained a deeper understanding of the martial path after studying the corridor carvings and bowing to the martial heritage preserved there. 24
  • Identified flaws in Chen Shi’s force generation during an arena match and explained how the mistake could be fatal in the wilderness. 44
  • Worked with Yuchi Yu to hypothesize that blood essence is connected to Martial Sense. 22

Equipment

  • A-grade combat blade — His primary weapon during his early wilderness work. 5
  • A-rank combat suit — Purchased before the Arena Battle. 38
  • Custom combat blade, combat suit, and multifunctional combat boots — Issued under his Chaos Martial Arts Hall contract. 42
  • S-grade combat blade — Used temporarily during Zhuge Lin’s strength test. 11

Relationships

  • Chen Dai — Sworn younger brother and fellow Jiangnan Martial University student. Chen Dai rescued Chu Wen after Zhang Yong’s betrayal; Chu Wen later teaches him the Primordial Origin Breathing Method and agrees to secretly protect his wilderness team. 1 19 49
  • Lu Yun — Former teacher and source of Chu Wen’s incomplete Shadow Follows Form inheritance. Chu Wen confessed to killing him following the incident surrounding his death. 3 37
  • Zhuge Lin — Chaos Martial Arts Hall deputy director who tested Chu Wen, recommended his admission to Xinhang, and helped secure his formal Hall contract. 11 12 41 42
  • Yuchi Yu — Xinhang professor and Martial-Sense Laboratory director. He employs Chu Wen as a research assistant and collaborates with him on Blood Bodhi and Martial Sense research. 22 39 40
  • Rox — War God instructor and Yuchi Yu’s grandson. Initially opposed Chu Wen’s enrollment, later led his practical-training team and helped deliver his Chaos Martial Arts Hall contract. 20 28 37 42
  • Lin Wei — Lin Family prodigy, rival, teammate, and sparring partner. She first challenged Chu Wen during the Dragonspine Corridor Trial and later lost to his perfected Chaos Combat Method. 26 28 43
  • Liu Changshou — Persistent supplement salesman who became Chu Wen’s campus contact and later joined the Jiangnan Society. He provides information about Xinhang’s factions and students. 15 16 30
  • Liu Shouren — Deputy Hall Master who engineered Chu Wen’s expulsion, then became increasingly deferential after recognizing Chu Wen’s value to Chaos Martial Arts Hall. 4 10 49
  • Su Zhenghe — Leader of the Jiangnan Martial Faction. He thanks Chu Wen for restoring the faction’s standing and entrusts him with Chen Dai’s protection. 19 48 49
  • Chen Yang — Warrior Fortress No. 033 materials buyer who handles Chu Wen’s demon-beast sales and considers him a major client. 5 50
  • Zhang Liping — Li Family representative who tried to recruit Chu Wen and previously participated in pressure against the Jiangnan Martial Faction. Chu Wen rejected the Li Family’s offer and later defeated her in the points tournament. 30 44
