In the fifth round, it was Ye Ting's turn to attack.
This time, he switched tactics again.
Facing Roger's tight defense, he did not even consider breaking through. He took the shot from far away.
With his immense arm strength, the Quaffle shot forward like an arrow loosed from a bow. Roger could only watch helplessly as it flew over his head, traced a beautiful arc, and went precisely through the hoop.
This time, Ye Ting had not even entered the scoring area!
Such shooting skill left the young wizards utterly amazed.
The referee promptly announced the score.
3:0
Roger landed dejectedly on the grass, forced to face his defeat.
He stepped forward and shook Ye Ting's hand.
"No wonder you're Ravenclaw's genius. From now on, it'll be your era."
He left the pitch with his head hanging low, leaving everyone with a sorrowful silhouette.
It seemed he would need some time to recover.
As for Ye Ting, he was now completely surrounded by the female players and Ravenclaw girls.
Cho Chang was closest to him. She excitedly hugged him, jumping up and down, and could not help leaving a soft kiss on his cheek.
Every little eagle present believed that Ravenclaw's era of dominating the Quidditch Cup was about to arrive.
And so, Ye Ting became Ravenclaw's Chaser—the team had originally planned to recruit a Chaser from among the third-years to replace a senior student leaving the team, but the spot went to Ye Ting instead.
After Ye Ting promised that he would properly help Cho Chang train her flying skills, the other senior Seeker left the team with peace of mind to focus on preparing for her O.W.L.s.
Cho Chang became the official Seeker, a full year earlier than in the original story.
On the very day Ye Ting's duel with Roger ended, news that he had defeated Roger 3:0 and become a Ravenclaw Chaser quickly spread throughout Hogwarts.
When most people heard the news, their first reaction was disbelief.
However, quite a few little eagles had watched the match in person. Their vivid descriptions left others no choice but to believe them.
This time, Ye Ting's reputation was no longer limited to being a genius or a handsome boy.
Academics, looks, and athletics were the three areas students cared about most. Excelling in even one of them was enough to earn the welcome and affection of one's classmates.
But Ye Ting was more than that. He was unmatched in all three areas, making him someone most students could only look up to.
His fans were no longer limited to girls. Many boys also expressed their admiration and respect for him.
Of course, Ye Ting was not a Galleon. He could not make everyone like him.
There were still some boys, as well as young wizards who believed in pure-blood supremacy, who did not think much of him. Most of them were from Slytherin.
Draco Malfoy was a typical example. More than once, he had loudly declared in front of others that Ye Ting was nothing but a filthy "Mudblood" who could do nothing but put on airs.
This time, when he heard that Ye Ting had defeated Roger and successfully become a team Chaser in his first year, Malfoy's jealousy was so intense it practically seeped out of him. Not even the news that Harry Potter had become a Seeker had made him this jealous.
He claimed that Ye Ting must have bribed Roger and deceived everyone in Ravenclaw, then said that the whole thing was blatant favoritism.
Rumor had it that Malfoy threw a massive tantrum in the common room before writing several long letters home.
Of course, another recent piece of news had just been mentioned: the famous savior, Harry Potter, had been exceptionally recruited by Gryffindor as a Seeker.
But with Ye Ting's dazzling achievement before it, the news did not cause much of a stir in the other Houses. Only Gryffindor's little lions were happy for him.
Yet the very next day after the news spread, the little lions' happiness turned into anger.
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Neville Longbottom had actually been caught by Argus Filch while wandering about at night, and each of them cost Gryffindor ten points.
At breakfast, Ye Ting could hear the Weasley brothers arguing loudly from several tables away. George and Fred Weasley kept praising the three for sneaking out at night, saying they were incredibly cool and asking Harry why he had not brought them along. Percy Weasley, meanwhile, raged at Ron, declaring that he would write to their mother and report everything.
Over at the Slytherin table, Malfoy and his two lackeys were laughing themselves silly, looking as though their scheme had succeeded.
Ye Ting knew why. In the original story, Malfoy had also invited Harry to a wizard's duel at midnight in the Trophy Room. But it was only bait. Harry and Ron believed him and went looking for him in the middle of the night, only to nearly be caught red-handed by Filch.
But unlike now, Hermione had gone with them in the original story, and they narrowly escaped disaster through a series of coincidences. Perhaps it was the butterfly effect caused by Hermione being sorted into Ravenclaw this time, but Harry had not escaped Filch's grasp.
