After the exams, Harry and Ron followed the crowd out into the sunlit grounds to soak up the sunshine. They ambled down the slope to the lakeside and plopped down beneath a tree. Nearby, a giant squid lay basking in the warm shallows while the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan gently poked at its tentacles.

Ever since the exams ended, Harry had been in a foul mood. His scar had been hurting constantly.

Ron suggested that he go see Madam Pomfrey, but Harry believed it was an omen, a warning that danger was drawing near.

He could not shake the vague feeling that he had forgotten to do something—something very important.

He thought of Hagrid, of what he had said about the secret of the trapdoor at the end of the corridor, of Nicolas Flamel and the purpose of the Philosopher's Stone. He remembered what Ye Ting had told him in the Forbidden Forest about unicorn blood, and the dark wizard who had attacked the unicorns.

"Voldemort wants the Philosopher's Stone," he suddenly said aloud, startling Ron.

"Could you stop saying that name?" Ron said in a lowered voice.

"Voldemort is still alive, but he is barely hanging on," Harry continued excitedly. "He wants the Philosopher's Stone to prolong his life. That was why he went into the Forbidden Forest to kill unicorns."

"What—the Dark Lord is actually alive?" Ron could hardly believe it.

Suddenly, Harry leaped to his feet.

"Where are you going?" Ron asked, confused.

"I just remembered something," Harry said. His face turned deathly pale. "We have to find Hagrid right away."

"Don't you think it's strange?" Harry said as he hurried down the grassy slope. "Hagrid wanted a dragon more than anything, and some stranger just happened to have a dragon egg in his pocket? How
