Why did zombies eat people?
Shen Feng had always been somewhat puzzled by this question.
If they were the zombies from the Resident Evil movies, it was easy enough to explain—they bit and ate people mainly to spread the virus.
Transmission through bodily fluids such as saliva and blood was also how certain viruses spread, like rabies, AIDS, and so on.
Compared with more powerful viruses such as SARS and the Ebola virus, which spread through airborne droplets, this mode of bodily-fluid transmission was outdated and inefficient. Only in movies could biting people destroy the entire world.
But the Evil Spirit Virus clearly had no need for such a backward method of transmission. After all, it spread entirely through the air.
The yellow fog of viral spores that had blanketed the Tokyo quarantine zone back then had been practically a layer of hell.
Yet zombies infected with the Evil Spirit Virus still chose to eat people, and did so with great fervor. From the standpoint of viral transmission mechanisms, that made little sense.
During the Evil Spirit Virus outbreak and the series of events that followed, Shen Feng had simply been too busy to investigate the reason behind it.
Now, though, was an excellent opportunity—and it also met the Real Doomsday Game system's requirement for an in-depth investigation.
With that in mind, Shen Feng found the open kitchen in the apartment and located a knife block and an apron printed with cartoon designs.
The knives were even Zwilling-made, from Huaguo.
Shen Feng nodded in satisfaction. He carried the knives, along with hammers, pliers, tweezers, and other tools, over to the zombie. Then he put on the apron, gloves, goggles, and mask, preparing to begin a violent disassembly.
About an hour later, Shen Feng took off the apron, now covered in
