After suffering heavy damage, the giant tower's defenses had been drastically weakened. Coupled with the kinetic shells fired by the electromagnetic cannon being incredibly fast, they pierced straight through the tower's defensive field and struck its base, instantly inflicting massive damage.
Even the consciousness field that had originally blanketed central New York was greatly weakened in an instant.

Seeing this, the legion commander was overjoyed and slammed a fist against the armored vehicle's outer hull.

Another dazzling meteor-like projectile shot forth. A huge chunk of flesh was ripped from the giant tower's already mostly torn-open base, and the small portion of the wound that had healed was completely ripped apart again, even vaporized by the extreme heat.
"Boom! Boom!"
A series of thunderous explosions rang out. This time, the self-propelled artillery shells had punched directly through the defensive field and struck the giant tower, exploding across its surface.

The shell made of flesh and bone was ultimately unable to withstand the bombardment of heavy weaponry. Great craters were blasted into it, a horrifying sight to behold.
The anti-aircraft autocannons that had been sweeping through the zombies suddenly swung around and aimed at the rows of eyes atop the giant tower, opening fire at once.
Wave after wave of bullets shot upward, instantly riddling those eyes with holes.
The giant tower let out shrill, mournful cries, clearly having suffered another devastating blow.
Freed from the suppression of the consciousness field, the Symbiote zombies threw back their heads and roared, intimidating the surrounding zombie hordes that were charging toward them.
