Background / History

Hu Liena lost her parents early and grew up relying on her older brother, Xie Yue. Bibi Dong ultimately chose her as a disciple despite Hu Liena having innate level-nine soul power. 13 16

By the time Li Zha arrives in Spirit City, Hu Liena is training alongside Xie Yue and Yan. Ghost Douluo addresses her affectionately as “Nana,” and their relationship is described as resembling that of a grandfather and granddaughter. 11 23

Bibi Dong assigns Hu Liena to handle Li Zha's academy registration, living arrangements, and course selection while he has no formal teacher. Hu Liena accepts the task after competing with Gui Mei for the right to guide him. 14

Bibi Dong appoints Hu Liena to guide Li Zha until a formal teacher is arranged. Hu Liena immediately attempts to establish seniority by demanding that he call her “Sister,” while Li Zha persistently refuses. 14 15

Spirit Beast Archive Incident

Hu Liena uses her Papal disciple status to bring Li Zha into the restricted third floor of the Spirit Beast Archive. She learns that he intends to seek a ten-thousand-year soul beast for his first soul ring and tries to talk him out of it. 16 17

When Yan provokes Li Zha into a confrontation, Hu Liena stands in front of Li Zha, then uses Foxfire Command to interrupt Yan's attack. 18 19
