Wade stood outside his parents' bedroom, raising his hand to knock, only to lower it again.
Only after he had arranged everything did he begin to hesitate, weighing how he should tell his parents.
After the tournament, he had promised that he would not run around during this holiday and would stay properly by his parents' side. Yet July had not even ended, and he was about to break that promise.
Just as Wade had yet to figure out how to begin, he heard his parents talking through the door:
"Why wasn't this coat packed?" Ferdinand said. "Didn't you specifically dig it out and wash it yesterday?"
"Sigh, no, we can't bring this one." Fiona said worriedly. "I forgot to check the weather there yesterday... New York has been thirty degrees these past two days! It's much hotter than here!"
"New York?"
Wade's heart stirred. After knocking, he went inside and saw his mother, Fiona, with her back to the door, packing clothes into an open suitcase.
His father, Ferdinand, was helping beside her. Neatly folded robes and outfits, from underwear to outerwear, were piled nearby, while Fiona was placing various daily necessities into an iron box.
"Mom, what are you..." Seeing that all the clothes were his, Wade asked tentatively, "Are we going traveling?"
The couple exchanged a glance and smiled knowingly at the same time.
Fiona sat sideways on the edge of the bed and patted it, motioning for Wade to sit down. Then she stroked his hair and said with a smile:
"Well? Have you figured out how to persuade us?"
Wade asked in surprise, "So you already knew?"
"Of course," Ferdinand said. "When Alastor came over, he told us why he was here."
