"Ha!"
Brolin gave a bitter laugh. "Do you think this is the end?"
Enduring the searing pain, he pulled back, one hand pressed over the bloody hole in his chest. He stared at the person opposite him with boundless hatred and gritted out:
"Don't think this is over, William Stonefield! I'll be back sooner or later, and I'll kill every last one of you!"
The moment he finished speaking, his body suddenly began to twist and transform!
"Pfft—"
A strange burst of rushing air sounded, and Brolin vanished from the spot in an instant. Only his blood-soaked robes, deprived of support, fluttered down.
Chris said in shock, "He Apparated? He's a wizard?!"
He hurriedly looked around, worried that Brolin might suddenly emerge from some nearby corner.
Sir William felt his scalp prickle as well, his fingers tightening, but he quickly calmed himself.
"Don't worry." He said to Chris, "I spent a fortune hiring wizards to cast Anti-Apparition Charms throughout this estate, inside and out... And I've never heard of a wizard leaving all his clothes behind when Apparating."
"But he disappeared." Chris could not relax at all. "I heard that some Magical Creatures aren't affected by Anti-Apparition Charms..."
Sir William had thought of those fragmentary bits of knowledge too, uncertain whether they were true or false. Yet as he looked at the pile of clothes on the floor, he still felt that something was wrong.
"You two—"
He extended his eagle-claw-like fingers and pointed at the two Vampire Golems.
"Pick up those clothes and inspect them carefully."
As the Vampire Golems bent down to retrieve the clothes, Sir William pressed a button on the armrest of his wheelchair, and another transparent circular barrier rose around them.
He feared that Brolin had left behind some dangerous weapon before disappearing—Poisonous Gas, perhaps,
